The Princess

Her bags were packed her white mare saddled and ready. Her parents stood by the castle door holding hands and smiling. Why, she thought, why are they making me travel halfway across the country to meet someone I don't even know, I mean sure I want peace for my people but is this really the only way, why can't they just sign a piece of paper like other countries.

She strapped her sword to her side and mounted her horse, and the caravan took off. She looked back at her parents who were waving, No doubt they made sure I'd get ti the other side safely sending that fucking letter on ahead, she fumed. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, anyways I can always come back, it's not like I have to stay there, if I don't like him I can always come back home, but what if I fall....no no don't think that Scylia, you won't love him, you will never love him....never. As they rode on through the war torn areas of her country she noticed the suffering of her people, wives weeping over dead husbands and children or vis versa husbands weeping for their dead wives, or children who lost both parents. Eyes turned to gaze upon her and the group of armed guards accompanying her, tears flowing down the faces. She held her head high and closed her eyes, not wanting to see anymore. Soon after what seemed like days on the road (which were only a few hours due to traveling at high speeds outside the war areas) they reached the border of Gildala and crossed over into Yulkuso.

The prince

He donee on a white cloak with matching gloves and boots and a insignia to show his status. He mounted his black stallion and spurred it forward to the city gate where a group of ten armed guards awaited him. This is just for a few months, I hope, maybe just maybe she'll be different, if not well my parents can sign that piece of paper they call a treaty, he thought. As they traveled he noticed many small cities and towns had vee burned to the ground and hundreds of refugees traveling to the inner cities. My people suffer more then me, my eyes have been opened,  I wont allow this to go on any longer, even if I have to fight this war on my own...

Flashback (The Prince)

His door opened and his mother stepped in.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR HANDS!" she gasped as she took his damaged hands into hers and began binding them with cloth torn from her dress. He hadn't noticed that his hands were injured, all he remembered was punching dummies.

"Mother I'm ok really, I am," he told her. She stood him up and sighed, "Of course you are, but it just seems like yesterday that you were only a baby, now come on you father wants to speak to you,"

"Digano, my son, I have wonderful news," his father said as they entered his study.

"What wonderful news father?" He asked, confused. His father smiled, "You know that we've been at war woth the people of Gildala for years now," when Digano nodded his father continued, "well that is about to change my son, you see we have come up with a treaty..."

"FATHER THAT'S GREAT W...." his father held up a hand to cut him off mid sentence, "but our people need proof if the treaty is ever going to work,"

"Proof? What kind of proof?"

"The king and queen of Gildala will be sending their daughter over to us to meet you, you will be married to prove to both countries that peace will now reign over us,"

Present

Diganos horse came to a stop, when it did he didn't know. He sighed and dismounted.

Her eyes meet him, a figure cloaked in white as he dismounted from a black stallion. She let out a small gasp, barely audible. Is this the...no no no he can't be the prince other wise he would be wearing colorful clothing, she thought as she nodded to her guards, who dismounted and began handing over her belongings to the group of men from Yulkuso.

"Was the trip any difficult, no harm befell upon your company as you traveled?" The cloaked man asked. "No, all went well seeing how both The Gilada and Yulkuso Royal families made sure no part of the armies were on the roads traveled," Scylia replied.

Digano studied the woman on the white mount, This can't be her can it, he wondered as she dismounted and strode over to him.

"You will take me to the castle," she demanded and she poked him in the chest, her green eyes shining like emeralds. The cloaked figure chuckled, "As you wish," and mounted his horse as she did the same, the they rode off.

40 mins. Later

Setting her cup of wine and looked over to the king and queen of Yulkuso. After a few more minutes of silence she spoke, "So where is your son, you know the one I have to marry to bring peace,"

"He should already be done here, it's not like him to miss dinner, or anything else for that matter...well speak of the devil here he is now," the queen said. At that moment the prince sat down in one of the many chairs around the table.

"Sorry I'm late, it was hard to put the book I was reading down, anyways ..."

"Ahem, Digano this is princess Scylia your future wife," his father said cutting him off mid sentence as he gestured towards the only other person at the table. Digano slowly turned his head towards the princess and the color of his face faded. The emerald colored eyes, the fiery red hair, the pale skin, this was the same women he meet near the border. She tilted her head confused and angry, "Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked as she glared at him.

"No reason," he said as he looked away blushing, "I...I have to go somewhere," with that he got up and left without another word. Scylia an his parents looked at him as he walked out the door.

"Odd, he's usually not like that." The king said.

"Oh really?" Scylia asked annoyed, she looked back towards the door that Digano walked through. So he's to be my husband, I think not. Thanking the royal couple for dinner she got up and went to her designated room.

Digano sat by the edge of the lake near his private mountain deep in the forest that surrounded the back area of the castle, matter of fact it was the only mountain in the country. Malom Solian or Solitude Mountain.

"Well that went well," his wolf Falnor said to him, "You see her twice and you clam up, and if I recall first impressions are hard to forget,"

"Shove off, I dont want to talk about it," He snapped back. He stared at his reflection in the lake. I'm getting married, he thought, and even if it takes forever I'll make it work.
