Chapter 10: Iridescent

I'm not going into detail on what happened next, mainly because I was so distraught about what that jerk (whose name is Joshua Joyce) said. I mean, yeah, sorta true but THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE CAN FLIPPING SAY IT!!!!

Worst. Day. Ever.

And it was about to get much worse.

Well, we were driving down the highway coming from Chicago, having no idea what to do next, but my compass began to glow. "Huh, weird..." I muttered, and touched it. I gasped and drew my fingers away. "Ah! Hot, hot, hot!!!"

"Gabby, what is wrong?" Optimus asked.

"I-I think my compass is overheating or some-" I didn't finish when I suddenly got a vivid vision.

A silver truck... and a red car chasing after us...

I could just sense who they were. "O-Optimus we have company coming! And they're not friendly!"

A few moments later, a few yards ahead of us, there was something like a swarm of bees that swirled and landed and... it... transformed.

Now know this, I had read a ton in Codename Hero about Megatron. Leader of the Decepticons, had more lives than a cat, and I had read rumors suggesting he died in the Battle of Chicago. Well. That certainly was not the case, because I knew, just knew, what we were looking at WAS Megatron.

He was back in action.

AND FIRING MISSILES AT US HOLY CRAP!!!!

"LOOK OUT!" I shrieked.

Optimus skidded to the side, and so did the others thank god. But we were still under fire! "I-is that Megatron?!" I had to be sure.

"Indeed." Optimus growled at me. "Hold on Gabby!" And hell, did I listen. I clung to the seatbelt as we made a sharp turn and drove right back the way we came.

My AllSpark compass was burning against my chest, as if warning me we were in big, big, big trouble. Hell, yeah we were! I let out a soft gasp as I looked into the rear view mirror. Crap! They were almost right behind us! Megatron shot out four missiles at us and I panicked. We dodged the missiles luckily but they exploded further up the road and caused a massive collision that threatened to mow us down!

"WHOA!" I yelped, digging my nails into the seatbelt as we were about to crash-

Optimus suddenly leapt and transformed along with Bumblebee, and we were all flying! Everything went in slow motion... I could feel my heart pounding in my ears as we tumbled through the air... Prime caught Tessa and me as we smashed through a trailer... My AllSpark energy fluctuated at that moment and covered me with some kind of, I guess you could call it a shield to protect us from the shrapnel... and the next thing I knew we landed, all of us- Shane, Uncle Cade, Tessa and myself inside of Optimus and we were driving down the highway!

"... that was awesome..." I muttered as the shield faded away.

But we weren't out of the woods YET! Megatron was right behind us AGAIN! "Come on Optimus!" Uncle Cade shouted as our Autobot dodged the Con leader's missiles. Suddenly, we were hit! Optimus transformed, and though Uncle Cade and Shane were dumped on the side of the road, Tessa and I weren't so lucky. We went rolling and bowling several feet with Optimus before we skidded to a stop. Tessa was gasping for breath, startled, and I was groaning myself. Prime was over top of us, and he activated his mask.

"TESSA! GABBY!" I could hear Uncle Cade yell at us as he attempted to hurry over to us.

We both backed up against an abandoned car, watching as Megatron and Optimus decked it out. "C-C'MON OPTIMUS! GET HIM!" I shouted, then suddenly winced and grabbed my head. Great. I had a nice cut on my temple-
