Part 10: Moving in with Luke

I pushed my face into my pillow and kept crying. There was a knock at my front door, I quietly checked to see if dad was awake,luckily he was sleeping. I ran downstairs to open the door, James, Daniel, Beau, Jai and Olivia were standing at my front door. I was actually happy to see them, I needed company. After I invited them in Olivia hugged me,

"He's going to be okay," she whispered in my ear.

We sat down on the couch and watched movies for the rest of the day. We all ended up falling asleep on the couch, I got up in the middle of the night and went up to my room so I could sleep comfortably. In the morning I got up and checked on dad. He wasn't in his bed.. thats weird. I walked downstairs and saw everyone was awake. Beau ran up to me.

"Paige, we have to go, mum just called, Luke is awake!"

As straight as I heard Beau say Luke was awake, I ran as fast as I could upstairs and grabbed the cards I bought for Luke, I ran back downstairs and I yanked Beaus arm and we all ran to the car. James, Daniel, Jai and Olivia ran to the car and Beau quickly drove off to the hospital.

During the car ride I passed one of the cards around, James, Jai, Beau, Daniel, Olivia and I signed the card. I grabbed my 'personal' card and signed it myself: Dear Luke, I love you so much, I'm so happy to find out you woke up, you're my life, I love you so much babe! Get well soon! Love Paige

When we got to the hospital, I picked up the cards from my lap and bolted to Lukes room. When I got up there, I saw Luke sitting up eating, and I saw Gina standing at the end of the room chatting with the nurse.

"Paige?!" Luke said looking at me,

Gina turned around and was looking at me.

"Luke!!" I was so happy, I ran up to his bed and hugged him tightly. He whispered in my ear, "I missed you babe."

I looked down at his arm, it was in a cast, Luke broke his arm. Another tear fell down my cheek. Luke wiped my face and kissed me, I pulled out the two cards that were in my hand. I opened them for him so he could read them, he smiled and gave me another kiss. I stayed with Luke for hours, and then the nurse said we could take him home. Beau drove me and Luke back to my place, because Luke said he wanted to come home with me. When I walked through the front door, there were two policemen standing in my loungeroom,

"Uh, Hello?" I said.. What was going on?

"Are you Paige Louise?" one policeman said to me,

"Paige, who are they?" Luke whispered to me,

"I don't know.."

"Yes I'm Paige, is something wrong?" I said to the policeman.

"Your father, Liam.. passed away this morning."

Luke put his arm around me, I fell to the ground. Dad? Is gone? I started crying.. Luke called Beau, Jai, Daniel, James, Olivia and Gina.

"I'm so sorry Paige, I know this isn't a good time to ask, but.. your father didn't finish paying off this house, so you won't be able to stay here, is there anyone else you can stay with?" the policeman said, putting his hand on my shoulder. I shook my head, while it was still buried into my arms.

"What about your mum?" Luke said,

What Luke didn't know, is that my mother passed away when I was nine, so I've been with dad for a while.

"No, she's not here." I said to Luke.

Luke looked at the policeman, then at me. He put his arm around me.

"She can move in with us!" I heard Beau say, I turned around and saw, Beau, Jai, Daniel, James, Olivia and Gina were standing in the doorway. I smiled, it felt like they were all family.

I smiled and ran up to Beau hugging him,

"Thanks," I said, wiping my tears away, "But I think you have to ask your mum first." I said looking at Gina,

She looked at me and smiled, "Welcome to the family."
