Miia was getting more irritated with Harvey each passing second. Each mugger they caught knew nothing about the Waynes murder. She hated the way Harvey interrogated them. It was like bad cop, worst cop. It got people to talk, but Miia wasn't all in for it. It reminded her about her past before she came to Gotham. The past she wanted to forget. Nothing but kicking ass that led to her almost death. Miia wasn't proud of what she did but she hoped her time in Gotham might make up for it.
"Guess what this is?" the guy who works there asked. The guy had a huge smile on his face, which Miia found cute. He held up the evidence bag with the bullet inside. Harvey introduced him as Edward Nygma. But the way he said it made it sound like he couldn't care less about the guy.
"Just tell me, Ed," Harvey said rather rudely. "I want riddles, I'll read the funny pages."
"Assuming you could read at all," Miia snapped. The guy is just doing his job. Everyone is a team. Ed was a bit shocked that someone snapped at Harvey like that...defending him. No one has ever defended him before.
Ed held a back his smile as he opened his little notebook. "It's a .45 caliber 300 grain cupronickel wadcutter." He held up the bag. "Came out of Thomas Wayne's chest." Miia liked his enthusiasm. It shows that he actually likes his job. Either that or he's good at pretending.
"That's a six dollar bullet," Jim pointed out. Miia started thinking. If this guy was wearing shiny shoes and uses high-end ammo, then the killer could have been a professional killer or someone who held a grudge against the Waynes. Miia's heart still broke a bit at the thought of their son Bruce all alone.
"Uh-huh," Ed said. "What kind of gun -"
Harvey cut him off. "Ah, ah, ah. Don't ask, just tell."
Ed's smile dropped. "It's from a pistol not known by our database. No prints either."
"What else you got?"
And just like that, Ed smiled again. "What's nowhere but everywhere except where something is?"
"Nothing," Miia answered on the spot. Ed's mouth flew open as he looked at the blonde. No one has ever answered his riddles that quick or at all. They usually just snap at him to tell them or they get annoyed. Miia shrugged with a small smile. "I did a lot of crosswords when I was younger."
Harvey got up. "You need professional help, Nygma. Seriously."
Miia glared at him. "And what you need is my foot shoved up your ass."
Harvey rolled his eyes at the girl before looking at Jim. "Let's go."
Jim gave Miia a look. She nodded and motioned him to go ahead. Jim glanced from Ed to Miia before following Harvey.
Miia looked at Ed. "I'm sorry about my partner."
Ed shrugged. "No worries. Thank you for standing up for me like that."
"You were just being you," Miia told him. "If you like riddles then you should tell them. I actually like your riddles. It's...a nice change from everything. It makes you you. And, hey, I don't mind if you ask me someone them."
"Really?" Ed smiled. Miia couldn't help but smile back, she likes his smile. "What costs nothing and is worth everything, weighs nothing, but can last a lifetime, that one person can't own, but two or more can share?"
"Friendship," Miia answered. This warmed her heart to know that at least one person isn't a corrupt cop. And she's glad she made a friend that isn't Harvey or Captain Essen.
Ed nodded happily. Still surprised that someone actually enjoyed is riddles and he made a friend. He placed his hand in front of the girl and properly introduced himself. "Edward Nygma at your service."
