Miia didn't know how she got roped in coming with Jim and Selina Kyle. Selina said she saw Bruce's parents getting shot so Jim made her show him what happened that night. Miia then felt her arm being pulled out of her desk by Jim as he dragged her with them. She wasn't complaining that much though because it got her away from the desk and from Lieutenant Bill Cranston, who kept flirting with her ever since they were introduced.
She wanted to find Danzer's murder but from what she heard from Harvey, the guy was a crook who got what he deserved. In any case, Miia would have agreed to let things go but she also knew that she had to do her job. Even if Danzer is a scumbag, he hasn't been convicted of any crime.
"So why do you care who really killed the Waynes?" Selina asked as the three walked down the alleyway.
"Because my brother is actually one of the good guys who want to see the person brought to justice," Miia responded.
Selina scoffed. "Did you read that in a book or something?"
Miia shook her head. "No, it's just how Jim works."
"And I made a promise to the boy," Jim added. He raised his brows at Selina. "So?"
Selina bit her lip before telling her side of the story. "The killer came from there," she began as she pointed at the other end of the alley. "Took the man's wallet and the woman's necklace...then shot them both. He left the boy alive." She pointed at the fire escape. "I was up there."
"Everybody knows that much," Jim pointed out. "Plus, the killer's face was covered."
"Not at first. He pulled up his scarf when he walked toward them. I saw him for a second."
Miia raised her brow. "You saw him? In the dark?" she asked.
"I can see in the dark."
Miia slowly nodded. "All right."
Selina was a bit happy she believed her but when she saw the skeptical look on Jim's face, she knew right there that he still didn't believe her. "You don't believe me?"
"There's the question of whether you're lying about what you saw...and then there's the question whether you were even here," Jim began his suspicions. "You're not giving me proof."
"I just told you, I stole some chump's wallet just before it happened. That was two blocks from here."
Miia gave her brother a pointed look. "She does have a point. If she was lying, she wouldn't even admit she was stealing someone's wallet." Jim returned Miia's look. "Not to mention the man called to report his stolen wallet." She motioned towards Selina. "We obviously have the thief who matches the description. And the timing works out before the Waynes were murder."
"But that doesn't put her here," Jim argued.
"I dumped the wallet," Selina told him. She pointed towards the sewer's flap. "There."
"A sewer. Great." Jim then grabbed Selina's wrist as he pulled his handcuffs out. "It's not that I don't trust you not to run away, but, well...I don't."
Miia rolled her eyes. She could have gotten Selina out but she knew the girl was capable to pick the lock.
"You find the wallet, you let me go, right? That's the deal?" Selina asked with a bit of annoyance as Jim drags her toward the fire escape.
"No," Jim said. "I find the wallet, that places you here. I still have to find the guy."
"That's bull." Selina looked towards Miia for help. "And you're not going to do anything?"
Miia raised her hands in surrender. "I can't really help you here."
Selina glared at the siblings as Jim walks over to the sewer's flap. He looked up at his sister. "You coming?"
She shook her head. "No, I don't want to get my shoes dirty," she lied as she noticed Selina pulling out the pen she stole from Harvey.
Jim rolled his eyes as he started climbing down the sewage ladder. Miia leaned over to get a good look.
"You know he's going to kill you, right?" she asked Selina, who got out of the cuffs.
"Yeah, but he deserves it," Selina retorted. She raised her brow at Miia. "You're not gonna arrest me, are you?"
"Arrest a witness to an investigation when she did nothing wrong?" Miia gasped. "What kind of detective do you think I am?"
She pointed towards Jim. "Like that one."
Miia heard Jim sigh and looked down the hole to see him pick up the slimy wallet. "Son of a bitch. She was telling the truth."
Selina looked down the hole. "Oh, detective." Jim looked up from the hole as Selina dangled the cuffs. "You're gonna need these."
Instead of giving the cuffs to Miia, she dropped them in the sewer. They landed in the pile of goop which made Jim curse under his breath. Miia pulled something out of her pocket and handed her card to Selina.
"What's this?" she asked as she snatched the card.
"My number in case you need anything," she responded.
"I don't need anything from you."
"I know, but just in case you get into a little trouble don't be afraid to call. No matter how big or small."
Selina slowly nodded. Anything at all, huh?

After a long stressful week in capturing Danzer's murderer, Friday finally came. Which means it was time for Miia's date with Ed. Miia chuckled when Ed left little riddles around the station. First, there laid a rose on her desk. It was a simple riddle: This is a flower. Someone gives to you. It's said these are red while violets are blue. What can this be?
Ed's riddles really made Miia smile while Harvey gagged whenever she found another card. Miia found another card by the vending machine and read it. She shook her head in amusement as she spotted him talking to Ms. Kringle. Miia made her way over.
"I am as light as a feather but no man can hold me for long. What am I?" Miia read, making her presence known. Ed looked away and had a huge smile on his face when Miia answered it. "I don't know, Ed. Is it my breath?"
"Yes, it is, Miia," Ed said with a wide grin. Ms. Kringle glanced back and forth between the two. "Do you get it? Because you take my breath away."
"That's very sweet of you, Ed," Miia smiled. "I'm really excited about tonight."
"Me, too." There was a small chuckle coming inside Ed's head. Oh, I'm really excited, too.
"So, what are we going to do?"
"That's going to be a big surprise." He motioned to Ms. Kringle. "And I wanted everything to be perfect so I asked Ms. Kringle, and Jim, for some help planning our evening."
Miia raised her brow. "You asked Jim?"
"Well, I tried. Let's just say he wasn't too happy and...he might have -"
Ms. Kringle looked at Miia and finished with, "Jim threatened to cuff him if he harms you."
Miia chuckled. "Yeah, always the protective brother. But I don't think he's gonna have to worry about Ed too much."
"Exactly what I was thinking."
Ed glanced at his watch. "Oh, I have to prepare for tonight. I'll pick you up around eight," he said.
Miia smiled. "I'll see you then."
