"Promise me you'll visit as much as you can," Cisco said sorrowfully as went to see Caitlin off at the train station. She refused his offer of a breach, she would rather re-enter her "normal" life in a normal way.

"I promise, Cisco. Whenever I can, every week if I can," Caitlin replied reassuringly. "I'm not gonna disappear again, I promise."

Cisco nodded at his friend.

"And you promise to-," she began before Cisco finished her sentence.

"Not tell the rest of the team about Mel and Savitar, until you're ready," Cisco emphasized the last part. "I know. I just want to know when I can meet my little niece."

Caitlin smiled, "whenever you have a chance to stop by Midway. I think she'd love you."

"Well, obviously," Cisco replied sarcastically, causing them to share a laugh before the train arrived.

"See you soon," Caitlin said, as the bus doors clothes.

...........................................................................

When finally arriving back in Midway, only thing on Caitlin's mind was getting back home to her daughter. It had only been a little more than day, but she had already missed her so much.

She was just so eager to get home. Ramona was getting ready for work when Caitlin went to check on Melony in her crib. Not wanting to wake her, Caitlin sat on her frameless matress and sat up against the wall, watching Mel sleep. She looked so peaceful. She never thought she could ever love someone as much as she loves Melony.

"Oh, hey. You're home," Ramona said walking into her room, wrapping up her wet hair in a towel. "How was it?" she said taking a seat next to her friend.

"Pretty great actually, I might visit again next weekend," Caitlin replied, making room for her friend.

"What can I say, your welcome," Ramona replied jokingly, earning a friendly push from Caitlin.

"How was she?" Caitlin asked, looking over to Melony again.

"Perfect, of course," Ramona replied. The two friends both smiled as they watched Mel sleep.

"I don't know what I'd do without you, Ramona," Caitlin sighed leaning her head on her shoulder.

....................................fb....................................

It was the middle of the night, well more like 2 in the morning, when Caitlin was frantically trying to get crying/screaming Melony back to sleep.

Though, it's not like she was sleeping either, she couldn't. She was up worrying, crying, and wallowing about the bad things about her life which seemed to always outweigh the good parts. Melony's late night outburst didn't help the already delirious, sleep deprived Caitlin.

Melony had had a bit of a small fever that day, but Ramona said it was nothing too urgent and should pass.

Not knowing how to calm the sick three month old, she tried feeding her which Mel refused and continued to cry louder.

"C'mon baby," Caitlin cried in a baby voice, "you need to go sleepy time, please, sleep. Mama's trying her best here."

Now trying to craddle her to sleep in her arms, Melony continued to scream, which only helped Caitlin's tears to flow heavier. Caitlin sank into the couch, crying as she tried calming Melony down.

Hearing the events from outside her room, Ramona came out to see her friend and godchild both crying on the couch.

"Gosh, Caitlin," she said rushing to her friend's side.

"I don't- I don't know what to do," Caitlin stuttered, "she won't go back to sleep."

Ramona reached over feeling the baby's head. "She's running a bit warmer," she said before rushing to the kitchen, lightly wetting a warm paper towel with water and running back to place it on Mel's forehead.

Soon after Mel quieted down, which made Caitlin sigh in relief.

"God I'm so stupid," Caitlin said wiping her face of tears, "I didn't even think to check her temperature. For god's sake I'm a doctor! How am I supposed to be a good mother."

"It's fine, Caitlin," Ramona replied. Noticing the tired look on her face, she asked concerned, "Caitlin, when was the last time you slept?!"

"I've been up since I got home from working at the bar."

"You got home yesterday at 1 am, Caitlin! We're both doctors, we both know that's bad for you."

"I know, I know I'm sorry I just can't sleep. And it's not just that or my crazy work hours..." Caitlin sniffed as she trailed off.

"What is it?" Ramona asked sincerely.

Caitlin hesitated to answer.

"Caitlin..." Ramona said softly.

"She looks so much like him," Caitlin sobbed looking down at Melony. Ramona knew what this was about.

"I knew he wasn't the greatest guy, but when you got to know him," Caitlin cried, "he loved me. No matter how broken I was or he was. We loved each other, and now he's gone! I never got to say goodbye," Caitlin cried into her friend's shoulder. "None of this wouldn't have happened if-" Caitlin caught herself at that last note, stopping before she revealed any super-secret information.

Ramona held her friend until her tears slowed down.

"Hey," she said softly rubbing Caitlin's head as it lied on her shoulder. "At least after it all. Your broken pieces came together to make something beautiful."

The two friends looked down to look at little Melony cooing in her sleep.
