"Thanks for letting me stay with you tonight, Cisco," Caitlin said as the two friends entered Cisco's well sized studio apartment.
"Anytime you want, Caitlin," Cisco responded, "you can stay as long as you want."
"Thanks for the offer, but I can't stay too long," Caitlin replied, setting herr things down on the couch.
"And why is that?" Cisco asked. "What is there to offer you over in Midway?"
"Distance, Cisco."
"And why do you need that? We're happy to have you back. You're obviously happy too. You are happy right?"
"I am happy Cisco," Caitlin sighed. "But, sometimes your past catches up to you and the place you use to call your home just isn't the same anymore."
They both fell silent for a second. Cisco knew the past four years had been hell for the both of them, especially Caitlin. But was it really that bad that she didn't want to stay with her friends and family anymore?
"Look," Caitlin sighed once more, she hated fighting with Cisco, "I can't promise that I'll move back, but I'll try to visit as much as I can. Everyday if possible. I still love it here, I love you guys. But I just can't live here and remember all the horrible crap that's happened, everyday."
Cisco responded with a sorrow but understanding nod.
"I'm going to get ready for bed," Caitlin said softly before heading into the bathroom with her purse and a change of clothes.
............................................................................
Locking the door of the bathroom, Caitlin quickly took out her phone and face called Ramona.
"Hey," Caitlin tried to speak quietly so Cisco couldn't hear her. "How's my little angel?"
Ramona held the phone up to Melony, who was half asleep in her arms, gurgling. Caitlin smiled and a small tear dripped from the corner of her eye. While she did work, this was the farthest and longest Caitlin had been away from her daughter since she was born.
"I miss you," Caitlin whispered, knowing Melony probably couldn't hear her.
"So how's it going up there?" Ramona asked focusing the camera back on her.
"Great, actually," Caitlin replied. "I'm not going to be back until tomorrow morning, though."
"It's completely fine," Ramona replied, "See I told you visiting would be a good idea."
"Thanks, Ramona." Sometimes, Caitlin really did hate when Ramona was right, but also genuinely thankful at the same time. "I'll see you guys tomorrow, k."
"Okay, see you," Ramona said. Holding the camera down to show Melony, Ramona spoke in her baby voice, "Say bye to mommy, Mel."
"Bye, baby. I miss you," Caitlin said in her voice baby voice before they both hung up. She then got ready for bed.
............................................................................
While Caitlin was in the bathroom, Cisco decided to set up the pull out bed for her. He was happy his friend was back, sad she couldn't stay, but still better than before.
Ever since the events of the past year took place, Cisco's vibes have been off. Sometimes they don't work, are inconsistent, or blurry. Focusing on creating new tech waz already difficult, but opening up interdimensional breaches felt impossible.
But now that things were getting better, Cisco hoped he would soon be ready to get back out on the field.
Cisco heard the shower turn off as he moved Caitlin's bag to pull out the bed, but then all of a sudden...
Cisco's Vibe
A blurred image of a sobbing Caitlin being comforted by a friend appeared in front of Cisco. "I don't know what I'm going to do, Ramona! My life has just become worse than hell!"
Cisco's image flashed again showing Caitlin's hair fading white as she approached a gang of bikers, freezing them with one fowl blast. Then another of her as Frost handing a briefcase to a one eyed man in a leather jacket, as he handed her a stack of money.
Another image flashed showing a big stomached Caitlin laid back on the couch, whispering to her stomach. "I'm sorry, if I'm not the mom you wanted and for the abnormal life we both have," she sighed.
Again, an image flashed before Cisco showing Caitlin screaming, crying, and sweating, clenching onto the railings of a hospital bed. The doctors between her legs, but no one beside her. (Ramona's at work/unexpected labor)
Once more, another blurry image flashed infront of Cisco. It was Caitlin with a small pink wrapped precious infant on her chest. She rubbed her thumb lightly on her fragile head. "I promise I'll love you... Melony."
End of vibe.
Cisco shook his head out of his vibe. What the hell! He thought. He put down the bag and finished pulling out the matress.
Was that really what Caitlin had been going through? All alone!? Cisco thought, feeling guilt and remorse for his friend. Cisco needed some answers and he didn't want to wait.
He sat down on the pull out bed and heard the bathroom door open. Soon Caitlin walked in.
"Oh, thanks for the bed Cis-" she started before Cisco cut her off.
"Who's Melony?" He asked.
