Chapter 15

"I'm so sorry sir but we did our very best to save your daugther." may panghihinayang na saad ko sa ama ng pasyente ko. We tried to revive her but she didn't make it so she died.

"It's hurt for me, pero oras na rin yata para mamahinga siya kaya kinuha na siya akin, sa amin." maluha luhang anya. Again I say sorry to him and leave.

Dumiretso ako sa office ko para tapusin na ang death certificate ng aking pasyente at matapos na rin ang ibang files na naghihintay sa akin doon. 

pabagsak akong umupo sa swivel chair ko at humarap sa computer ko. Nagtipa ako ng mga impormasyon at iprinint iyon. I also read the files in my desk and sign it, I even review the others dahil para iyon sa darating na meeting next week. 

Mayroon kasi kaming project na pinaguusapan kaya dapat ay ihanda na ng maayos upang matapos na iyon. I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in." I said, as I sign the last paper in my hand. And look at the person who enters my office. She smiled at me.

"Lets have a lunch together." aya niya.

"Good timing, I just finish what Im doing." I stand up and reach her hand at sabay na kaming lumabas ng opisina. Nagusap lang kami about sa ginawa namin today at nung nangyari kanina.

"Hey, stop putting your food in my plate." may halong inis na anya.

"What? I want you to eat more, para hindi ka mangayayat. Look at yourself, ang payat payat mo na. Tsk!" sermon ko dito, she just pout and eat her food.

"Mom please talk to ate about it." may pag-aalalang sabi ko. Kausap ko si Mom over the phone tumawag kasi ito sa akin at sinabi ang kalagayan ng kapatid ko.

"I know i'll try son, I'll make sure she will say yes today." I sight.

"Okay mom.... I love you, bye" I said and hung up the call.

I massage my temple, my sister has brain tumor and its spreading in her brain day by day. I just hope na pumayag na siya magpaopera, I already tried to convince her but she insist. I stand up and wear my lab gown, it's now the time that i'll do my rounds.

"Yes doc, thank you."

"Nope, thank you Maam. Because you fight." I said and give her a smile.

"Pwede na po siya madischarge bukas." Baling ko sa asawa nito na malawak ang ngiti.

"Sige po, salamat po talaga doc."

"By the way here are the medicines that  your wife needs to take, and make sure na hindi siya papalya sa pag-inom ng gamot." I said, kinuha niya naman iyon at nagpasalamat ulit. I excuse myself and proceed to my last patient for today.

"Nurse Sanchez, can i see the medical record of Mr. Tizon?" I ask.

"Here doc." She handed the medical record and I review the his record. So far wala okay na naman siya and he's recovering fast. We entered in Mr. Sanchez's room.

"Good evening Sir." I greeted.

"Good evening din doc." I check his IV at inadjust iyon.

"How are you feeling sir?" Tanong ko dito.

"Fine, I think I can do all things already." Masayang sabi nito.

"That's good" Natatawa kong sabi. Maybe after 1-2 weeks you can now discharge." I said. "We will come back tommorow sir."

Nagpaalam na ako at lumabas sa kwarto. Ibinigay ko na din ang record sa nurse na kasama ko at dumiretso na sa nurse quarter.

Ano na kayang desisyon ni ate? I'm worried na hindi pa din siya pumapayag, I'm scared to lose my only sister. Lahat naman ata eh, I love my sister so much kaya hindi ko kayang mawala siya. I remember nung nilioigawan palang siya ng asawa niya, napaka over protective ako sa kanya.

Actually sa akin nahirapan yung asawa niya, daig ko pa si ate na nililigawan niya. Pero at the end naging close na naman kami at tanggap ko na siya para kay ate.

"Kurt!"

Muntik na akong madapa dahil doon. Masama ang tingin na lumingon ako pero nawala din iyon nang makita ko kung sino ang tumawag sa akin. Lumakad siya papunta sa akin.

"You okay? Ang lalim ata ng iniisip mo, muntik ka na madapa nung tinawag kita." Nagaalalang sabi nito. Inakbayan ko siya at nagsimula na maglakad.

"Okay lang, nagulat lang talaga ako." I said. Papunta kami sa office.

"You sure? Para mo na nga akong sasapakin kanina."

"Yep, don't worry about me. Tsaka wag ka nga magsalita ng ganyan, I'll never do that." I said and smiled. Huminto siya sa paglalakad ng marating namin ang office ko.

"I know there's something wrong, so please tell it to me hon." Nagaalalang sabi nito. I sight

"It's about my sister." I said.

"What about your sister?" Kunot noong sabi nito.

"She has brain tumor, at ayaw niya pang magpaopera. I don't know kung naconvince na siya ni mom, but I hope yes." I said. She hold my hands tightly to comfort me.

"Tell me if she already decide to operate, I'll be the one who will perform the surgery." She said, and open my office door. "Now go inside and fix your things already." She gave me a smack on a lips and push me inside the room.

Umalis na siya sa harap ng office ko at dumiretso sa kanya. Inayos ko nalang ang gamit ko at hinubad ang lab gown ko. I make sure na wala na akong naiwan na papers. Lumabas na ako at pumunta sa office niya tsaka pumasok sa loob.

"Hon? Okay ka na?" Tanong ko, she look at me, and grab her bag.

"Let's go." Sabay kaming lumabas at naglakad sa information desk at pumirma.

"Go inside" Aya ko sa kanya pumasok sa kotse.

"Napapaka gentleman ka ah!" Natatawang sabi niya nito.

"Only to you hon, well you know I can't live without you." I said. Umikot na ako at pumuntang driver's seat. Its a long day today, I'm planning to visit my sister tomorrow ofcourse with my wife.

Narrator POV

In another day nagmamadaling pumasok ang mag asawa sa hospital. Nagkaroon kasi ng hostage taking at dinumog sila ng pasyente galing sa engkwentro. Agad silang dumiretso sa ER para tumulong sa mga sugatang pasyente.

They got busy treating the wounded people. Labas masok din sila sa OR tuwing kailangan ng emergency surgey sa pasyenteng dumadating! Dumiretso siya sa ICU and checked the patient na kakagaling sa OR.

"Get him an CT scan also An MRI to see if he damage his head thank you." Utos niya sa kasama niyang doctor. Umalis siya doon tsaka dumiretsong Cafeteria. She saw her friend and confront her about something, she just smiled when she saw her smile at nakikipagtawanan sa baliw niyang kaibigan.

She then excuse herself dahil nagtext na ang asawa niya, siya lang naman ang hinihintay niya matapos. She glance at her wrist watch only to find out that its already 3 AM in the morning kaya pala inaantok na siya
