"Hey...Mom..," I said getting off of the stool I was sitting on and walked a few feet away for a little privacy.

"Blossom, are you okay?" she asked in a sad yet calm tone.

"Yes, I am," I said truthfully, I was just pretty overwhelmed at the moment.

"Are you safe? Are you at a hotel? Are you outside? What are you-"

"I'm safe, Mom," I said looking back at my dad.

He just stood their frozen in place, staring down not saying a word.

"Mija, I-"

"Look, Mom. I forgive you. I just wanted some space and Italy is a really beautiful place to be in right now," I said not mentioning on how I met my "dead" dad.

"Gracías, Mija. But...I think you should stay there.. I'm going to go meet you soon and we'll both head to France for a couple of weeks for vacation. You haven't seen the Eiffel tower in years!" she said obviously not telling me something.

"Whoah, wait. What?" I asked, "You're coming here...to Italy?"

"Yea. Soon. I can't get off for another three days, so I'll be there sometime then," she said.

"Uhm, okay. Can't wait to see you...," I said trying to act excited.

"I'll be there. I'll text you when I leave for the airport... I love you, Mija.. So much. I'm going to be there soon," she said sounding like she was about to tear up.

"Okay, I love you too. Much more,"
I said back smiling, starting to tear up.

"Bye, Mija."

"Bye."

I ended the call.

"She's coming to Italy," I told my dad blankly.

He stood there still frozen, his emotions hidden.

"How long has it been...?" I asked knowing he'd understand me.

After a few seconds, he finally looked up at me with his green eyes looking straight into my soul.

"17 years, 10 months, and 9 days..," he said.

My heart stopped. He knew the exact amount of days he hasn't seen my mom...and I couldn't even imagine that coming from a guy like him.

"Why don't you guys...?" I asked scared to hear the answer.

"The food will be done soon... Go ahead in the living room and watch TV, I'll call you when it's done," he said ignoring my question as he finished dicing the vegetables. His answer actually made me kind of glad. I didn't think I was prepared to hear the answer.
