Evan Hansen - Third

"How are you feeling today, Evan?" Dr. Sherman, Evans therapist, asked as soon as Evan had sat down.

"Good. I'm feeling good today, happy." The words rolled right off of Evans tongue; the lies rolled right off of Evans tongue.

Truth be told, Evan wasn't feeling 'good'. Evan wasn't feeling 'happy'.

No, quite the opposite, actually.

Evan felt bad. Horrible, disgusting- shitty. But the teenager wasn't going to tell his therapist that. No, because if he knew the truth then Evan would be forced to keep coming back. If Dr. Sherman thought Evan was getting better, however, then the sooner Evan could be discharged and the sooner Evans mother could stop wasting so much extra money, that she didn't even have to begin with, on him.

"So, what do you think could've made you so happy today?" Evans hand twitched at the question.

"Um... Jared was uh, he was nice to me today."

Good. That wasn't a lie.

"Oh? He seemed so, I guess you could say... mean, from what you've been telling me." Dr. Sherman paused, checking his watch. "What did Jared do today that was so nice?"

The rest of Evans appointment was spent conversing about school, how well Evan was doing and what his grades looked like.

When the appointment was over, Evan walked outside; No Jared.

At least, Evan thought as he began to walk home, I won't have to tell him about the bruises.
