Life flows as constant as the river currents with all its twists and bends. Yet life differs from the river by how the water moves to take the easiest path. For just about everyone who has lived past their first decade they will discover that life does not take the easiest path.
Our young lady has always relied on the steady flow of her family and all that was familiar to her. Though, as she has entered her second decade of life she has entered a rough stream.
Her family has grown in numbers. A wonderful blessing of witnessing a new life has been gifted to our young lady as her sister has begun her own family. But numbers were not the only way her family has grown. It has also grown apart.
Our young lady's sister moved to a different city for the best opportunity to raise her family. Her older brother lives in his own house and is rarely heard from. Her parents can hardly stay in the same room as one another. The only family she is still close to is her younger brother, but he has his own plans for his future. All of our young lady's family have drifted apart like icebergs that calved off a glacier.
The familiar currents that our young lady has grown to rely on are disrupted even further by some significant life changes. She has graduated from high school, is now trying to find the right path to take as she goes to college, and keeps a job as best she can. The loss of all that was familiar in her childhood and the rock that was once her family have all been washed away by swift currents.
All that our young lady knows to do is to keep focus on what, or rather who, is always a constant. She clings to her faith and tries to keep hope no matter the rapids that the stream of life has in store. I pray her family heals and that our young lady will find her path and some peace along the way to steadier currents.
