A few days ago, I came across this tweet and I think it is so powerful.

As Christians, we are called to live like God. We strive to be more like Him and we live by His beliefs. Although this is wonderful and how we should live, we do end up disagreeing with the some of world because of difference of opinion.

For example, God does not condemn homosexuality.

Romans 1:26-27 (NIV)
"For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."

So, yes, God does not accept homosexuality. However, too often Christians use this to defend their homophobia.

If you are Christian and homophobic, you have no right to think that you can hurt someone who is homosexual simply because they are homosexual and "the Bible says you should."

Absolutely not.

In John 8, a woman was caught in adultery, which means that she was with another man that was not her husband. The Pharisees wanted to stone her to death, which was the punishment for adultery. The Pharisees asked Jesus what He thinks should happen, trying to trap Him.

John 8:7-9 (NIV)
When they kept on questioning Him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left with the woman still standing there."

Everyone in this world has sinned. Every single human has sinned. Except Jesus. We disappoint Jesus time and time again, but He still chooses to love us unconditionally.

1 John 4:19 (NIV)
We love because he first loved us.

As Christians we are called to love one another just as Jesus loves us. So, that does not mean you can go around shaming people who don't agree with your beliefs.

We are human and extremely flawed. We are going to fight and get in conflicts.

To prevent that? Love one another. Treat others with respect. Simple as that. That's what Jesus did. It doesn't matter if you have completely different beliefs, LOVING ONE ANOTHER is your calling.

We love because He loved us first.
