My first game reviewwwww

Alright, so a little bit of context first.

I got DDLC ageeees ago on Steam, played it a bit, but then kind of focused more on writing ADKOH (my story that's been a WIP for three years now. Though, quick promo, my first chapter is almost done, give or take a few words and such). Then, I went on Steam to find more games. Because DDLC masquerades as a dating Sim, two games were suggested to me. These were "Lovers of Aether" and "Blush Blush".

I got them both, because they were basically Furry Dating Simulators. For those of you who don't know me personally, I actually spend 75% of my free time looking through content for this book. I get neck cramps occasionally from how much I cringe for you guys.

The first game review, though, is about "Lovers of Aether". It was basically a joke game, made to promote the actual game, "Rivals of Aether", in which furries fight each other.

But game. There are a fair few animals you can take to the homecoming dance. I'm not looking at the game for name reference, so excuse me if I spell names wrong. Furry gamers, do correct me.

Zetterburn, a lion. He's a jock, but also your best friend? He plans on asking you to the dance, but if you don't choose him as your date, he says he ships you with the animal you chose. Generally supportive best friend. *

Forsburn, a wolf. He's the token emo, the brother of Zetterburn, somehow. No matter how many times Zet shuns him, he'll always love his brother. No matter how many poems you listen to, For will always say something along the lines of "Frick you" so don't worry about that.

Sylvanos, who I think is also a wolf. He's basically on all the steroids you can think of, is a massive exercise fanatic, but also a bit of a bully. However, he never picks on the player (at least I don't think he does?). *

Kragg, a beetle. Don't expect me to pay attention to what kind, though. Likes rocks. A lot. If you want his ending, you should ask him for help with the entire history test until he tells you a story about an egg. He's really sweet though.

Orcane, an orca. The prankster of the bunch. I suggest if you want his ending, you should tell him to prank Maypul by rewriting her campaign speech. It works great. *

Ranno, a frog. Anyone who likes Tsu from BNHA should love him, then. Acts like a pacifist, but had a fight with Wrastor under this tree (the fucking "Ding Dong" tree, my God) and now those two have beef.

Wrastor, a bird. Laid-back, but thinks hes great with the ladies. If you lean toward him, there's an extra scene where Ranno and Wrastor argue. Side with Wrastor to get his ending. *

Etalus, a polar bear. An undercover cop?! Has beef with Syl because of illegal substances. You have to help bust him, so good luck. Also, he acts so stupid, don't be fooled.

Clairen, a panther (I think). She's really sketchy, but she's the new girl. She doesn't come in during the first scene, so when she walks in, a mandatory interaction follows. She's a really fun character to unravel.

Maypul, a raccoon. A pompous, bossy class president. Good luck trying to put up with her. Though, she has beef with Elliana. Personally, I don't like her, but she's still a good character?

Elliana, a snake. She's very trendy and smart in many ways. After all, she never has to worry about a bad tattoo because she just sheds it right off. During the Rivals of Aether minigame, pick her to be your partner, despite her having to headbutt keys to press them. *

Absa, a goat. She's a smart, intelligent young woman... who accidentally ate her english presentation. Whilst Orcane and Sylvanos' humans "ate their homework", Absa has no problem eating her own.

And I thought it would be awful, but if you ignore the fact that they're all animals, it's pretty good?

I mean, I am not a furry, but I found the game to be entertaining? Uhhhh...

Yeah. That's game one. And I am very ashamed of myself for enjoying that.

But yeah.

Game play is short and easy, ideal for a quick game, but not so much for an intense gaming session, unless you plan on getting everyone before the end of your session.

Also, the two mini games (History quiz and Rivals of Aether) are easy, but the first one allows you to talk to fellow students and get their endings whereas the second one distracts you with needless character monologues and occasionally hard to beat levels (it's just like space invaders).

If the characters were human, I'd find the game better, I guess, but that's a personal opinion.

There's a little cassette on the dance scenes. The song on there is pretty weird, but I had a few giggles.

Eh. I give it 6/10.

And if I see any furries in the comments chanting "One of Us", I will shoot myself.
