The way you should be loved

Chapter one

A year ago...
My name is Bethan or Beth for short. I am just finishing up my last year of college doing business studies. You see my dad is CEO of a large computer tech firm and he wants me to join after college as an intern with 5 other people he closely picked from my college, 3 girls and 2 boys all in their last year. Because its an intershipment my dad tries to hire locals ones. He has hired one from University of California only because he is a local boy plus his brother in sales, his sister is in HR and his dad in on the board. But the boy turned it down to go travelling for a year. My dad wants him to come work for him so he told him to find him when he is done travelling. He still came to our first day of training.
So in the room waiting for my dad, the CEO and his little assistant, Maggie who I have known since I was a toddler were the five of us. Soon my dad walks in with a clipboard with our names on.

"Welcome everyone. My name is Daniel Mead and I'm CEO of Mead & Knight Bytes tech. I have worked myself up through the company since I was only 21 like yourselves. I work hard but play harder and that's why I'm successful. Maggie here has been my assistant for nearly 20 years".

He calls each name on the list. Each one of us replies to our names.

"Bethan Mead". I replied with a yes. I look like my dad, dark brown hair and brown eyes. I wanted to be smart so I wore a light blue blouse and a black skirt which just went past my knees. Black small heels, don't need the height really as 5'8. My father has this presence but nothing like the stare I'm getting from the boy next to me. He looks familiar but I can't think where.

"Charlie Morris".

"Yes". He should be a surfer dude blonde messy hair and lovely blue eyes. Too casual in dress as wearing just a shirt with two buttons from the top undone. I rolled my eyes. The other boy next to me noticed.

"He not going to last" he replied with a smile.

"How do u know? "

"I just know. I have family here"

"Why are you here? Aren't you the one that turned it down.".

"I turned down the year intern. I am still working here next year".

"Why?"

"I'm that good your dad wants me".

"How did you know".

"Look-alike".

"You're cocky"

"No. Jordan".

"Huh"

"You asked if I was called cocky. It's Jordan".

"Anna Green"

"Yes". She was blonde and blue-eyed. She looked pretty and was wearing a pretty summery dress suit. The type of girl every boy would fall for, blonde, blue-eyed and big chested. But only Charlie was staring at her as the other one, Jordan was staring at me.

" Emily Wood".

"Yes". Another pretty girl. This time brown hair and hazel eyes. She was a blouse and a skirt like me.

" Jordan".

"Yes". A voice is next to me.

" Welcome, Jordan to the company like your brother and sister who are here. I am sad you want to travel the world first and not join sooner. You're like a son to me".

"Sorry I want a gap year of travelling before starting a working life. I want to have fun first".

" Well now that everyone is checked in. Shall we get to know each other before I show you the company" replied my dad "How about my daughter goes first".

"Thanks, dad. I'm Bethan or Beth for short. I'm 21 in May. I love animals and wanted to be a vet. But here I am finishing off a business degree as it pays better according to my CEO dad".

"Charlie. I'm 21. I love sports mainly football. I am also finishing a business degree".

" Anna. I'm 21 in August. I love shopping and going to the mall. I am also doing a business degree. I would like to work in PA or HR in future".

"My name is Emily and I'm 21. I'm the oldest in my family of five children. I rarely have time for hobbies between college and help look after my brothers and sister as we lost my mom to cancer a few years ago. I also would like to be a part of the HR team in the future".

" My name is Jordan and also 21 in May. I also come from a big family. I have a brother and sister who work here. My dad's been a part of the company for thirty years. I love sports mainly basketball. I support the Boston teams. I have a love for music and play the piano too. I am in the last year of college in Califonia. I wanted to get away for a while. I am doing a marketing and business degree".

"Let's have some lunch and get to know one another. I need to make a few phone calls before I show you around. And again welcome to my company". Then he walked out leaving us interns to ourselves. This may not be too bad after all. I still have Jordan's glare on me. While Anna is trying to get his attention all morning. I still can't think where I have seen him before but I know I have.
