"It was the least I could for for him, as well as you."

Jaylee

Fear and adrenaline rushes through me and next thing I know, I am ducking myself under Ethan hospital bed. I am fully awake now, besides the fact that I woke up literally ten minutes ago.

I bumped my head off the bottom of the bed and I had to clamp my hand over my mouth in order to suppress a painful groan. That hurt. All I can see is two pairs of feet, one belonging to Jane and the other I wasn't sure yet. My heart is pounding loudly at the thought of what would happen if I were to get caught. Plus, if any of the staff found out Jane was sneaking me to see Ethan, god knows what would happen to her. I don't want her to get in trouble all because of a patient like me.

"Jane, what are you doing in here?" I close my eyes and mentally roll them once I figured out who the voice belongs to. "Aren't you supposed to be with the other nurses?" I feel terrible for being the reason why Jane was being interrogated by the one and only Dr Johnson. But it isn't my entire fault, she was the one who brought me here, I didn't ask so...

I see Dr Johnson's feet move towards Ethan's bed. I glare at his feet, even though it does absolutely nothing. "I was just checking on Ethan. I am his assigned nurse after all." Jane tries to play it cool, but I can sense her nervousness. I try to keep my breath in cause he hears me.

"And why's that?" He questions, his tone full of authority. Jane clears her throat. "With all due respect sir, you did almost kill the boy. I was just making sure he was okay." she tells him. It's starting to get hot in here and I so badly wish I could just talk to Ethan. It wasn't very nice underneath this metal bed.My head was right next to a spider web, giving me the impression they almost never clean under here.

"I should get going, back to the other nurses." I hear Jane say. I couldn't make out whatever Dr Johnson had told her. I watch Jane's feet as she is halfway to the door. Dr Johnson moves towards somewhere else in the room.

I watch as Jane drops something on the ground. A key card. She bends down and looks at me. "Crawl under the beds, now." she tells me and I nod. Carefully, I begin crawling under the row of beds. It's a struggle crawling on the floor and trying to keep quiet and the same time. I make it to the last bed, just as Jane opens the door.

She checks if Dr Johnson is looking. She nods, telling me to get out of the room. I carefully sprint towards the door, sending Ethan a quick smile. I dash out of the door and Jane follows, shutting it quickly.

"You alright?" Jane asks, looking at me. I nod, a worried feeling coming into my stomach as I just remember Ethan and Dr Johnson are alone in the hospital together.

Jane tugs on my arms lightly are guides me back in the direction we came. We both duck around the corners, once we hear nurses and other staff coming our way. When the coast is clear, we continue on.

"Thank you." I tell Jane, once we reach my door. She flashes her key card on the scanner and the door opens. "You're welcome, it was nothing. Now go back to sleep." she tells me.

"It wasn't nothing, you risked your job for me." I say, looking at her. "I've been looking after Ethan since he first came here. I never saw him even remotely speak to anyone in this place. But then you came, and now he's all smiles again. It was the least I could do for him, as well as you." she sends me a soft smile.

Jane ushers me inside, saying a goodnight then finally closes the door. I sit on the edge of my bed, leaning against the wall.

One things for certain, Ethan and I will get out of here.
