"Yes, were sharing a room."
Grayson
I tapped my hand on the wheel of my car, humming along to the sound of the radio as Jaylee buckled her seat belt in the front seat, a packet of skittles in her hand from the gas station we had just stopped at.
Ethan had been sleeping for the past hour or so, his head buried on a pillow, sprawled out on the back seat, every now and then he mumbled something under his breath before turning around and sighing back into a slumber, leaving Jaylee sat smiling at him with sheer admiration plastered upon her face, as if he was the most delicate thing she had ever laid eyes upon.
"Close your mouth Jay, you're drooling." I laughed, starting the engine back up, pulling away from the gas station.
Blushing, Jaylee still couldn't rip her eyes away from the view behind her; "He looks so peaceful." She muttered, unable to fight the smile tugging on her lips.
"You make him nervous, just so you know." I announced lowly, glancing over my shoulder to make sure that he was still sleeping and not listening with his eyes closed. I vowed to myself that I wouldn't play cupid, but I couldn't help it.
Jaylee frowned, turning her body around completely in the car. "I make him nervous. But why?" She asked.
"Because he loves you?" I answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
She looked at me confused and shocked.
"It's because he is genuinely in love with you. You can't seriously be oblivious to how head over heels he is for you?" Staring forward, Jaylee didn't utter a single word. "Wait, you seriously had no idea?" I rose my eyebrows in shock, unable to believe that she really didn't figure it out sooner. "Jay, he adores you, and everything about you." I laugh in disbelief, still shaking my head.
"Well he never said anything. He says he liked me, but..." she trailed off, fiddling with her fingers.
"Besides, like I told you – he is nervous around you, he isn't going to be able to just openly profess his love for you."
"Well, he should." She folded her arms across her chest.
"Or, you could tell him that you feel the same way, giving him courage to admit that he loves you." I shrug, knowing that even if she didn't admit it, or even know herself that she loved him, deep down she did, in more ways than one.
"Oh, and just so you know, you're sharing a room with him tonight." I smirked.
Almost choking on a skittle, Jaylee glared at me. "Um, since when?" She cocked an eyebrow.
"Since five seconds ago when I decided that you're sharing a room." smiling smugly, I knew that over the course of this situation her and Ethan would only end up growing closer, trusting each other more, leaving his shyness around her in the dark.
I just thought that they needed a little push, that's all.
Ethan
"Ethan, wake up." A soft voice tickled my ear, the feel of an arm rocking my body as I laid in the back of the car with my arms wrapped around a pillow,m. My eyes flickering open to see that night had fallen all around us, and we were parked in the lot of a small motel type place.
I yawned, slowly sitting up, rubbing my eyes as my senses start to awake from the sleep. "Are we safe? Did we lose them?" I groaned. Grayson was nowhere to be seen but Jaylee was stood waiting for me, holding a pizza box in her hands.
"Almost. Grayson said to stay over night in this place to lay low for the night. They won't find us here, it's off the main road." She smiled. "Come on, Gray has already booked the rooms."
Fumbling around, I nodded slowly; "Rooms?" scuffling myself across the seat I climbed out of the car.
"Yup, rooms." she clarified nervously, closing the door behind me, using the car keys to lock them. "And, the pizza is ours, he isn't hungry." she shrugged, keeping her distance as we began to walk across the parking the lot.
"Are you sure you want to be in the room on your own?" I asked, trailing behind her, looking around at the motel we would be sleeping in, it resembling something out of a horror movie – the sort of motel you would be in with a girlfriend, having slow sensual sex in a bed that creaks under the weight of anything, suddenly hearing the sound of somebody banging on the wall next door, you stop what you're doing for a moment and the next thing you know you're clambering for your clothes and climbing out of the bathroom window, running for safety.
Jaylee waited for me to catch up to her, a faint smile on her face. "I'm not the one who is on my own in the room." she looked me up and down, plucking fluff out of my hair.
"Oh, did you and Grayson bond or something?" Walking side by side with her, I couldn't help but wonder what they had spoke about while I was sleeping, missing out on all the conversations that probably consisted of Grayson telling her every little embarrassing detail there is to know about me.
"We did." she nodded, leading me towards the metal stairs. "But, he is in room 437 and we're in room 435." she glanced at me, as if she was waiting for my response.
Yet my response was to silently choke on my own tongue, and almost fall up the stairs in front of me, dropping my pillow and grappling the tin banister to regain my balance.
"We're sharing a room?" I coughed, already feeling my body begin to burn up. You would think that it wouldn't be a problem seeing as though we like each other and everything, but she wants to share a room with me and I don't even know how to breathe in her presence, without feeling as if I am going to faint never mind. sharing a motel room with her.
"Yes, we're sharing a room." She laughed, skipping down the painted red flooring.
She opened the door with the key, acting as if she was completely unfazed by the fact we were spending the night together in a room that probably wreaked of bleach used by an unqualified cleaner, the sheets of the beds dirty and floorboards that are covered by a riddled with god knows what covering the floorboards.
