Face

A/n: this is surely my longest works so far. But unlike the others, I wrote it in thirty minutes. With number of words being 1463, this is my new record. I am really hoping that you guys like it.

What do you think about faces? Let me know in the comments. Hit the star in the corner and show me that you like it. I think we all know here that it's a very nice feeling for an author or a poet to know that his work is being liked.

Lastly (as I think that the note of this long piece has become long enough,)

... Enjoy:)

————————————

It was her birthday party
She was now eight
There were so many games
And a cake that she ate

When she opened up the presents
Something was not right
There was a gift from some nobody
A box wrapped in red and white

She looked inside
And there it was
The box slipped from her hands
In shock because

Inside it, was a face
—A mask to be precise
It had the same nose as hers,
The mouth, the ears, the eyes

She looked at the face
And thought what to do with it
Unable to think much
She shrugged and pocketed it

At night she took it out
And examined it closely
It was exactly like her
It was her wholly

The only difference was,
It was smiling she was not
she thought about that
And that by whom it had been bought.

And lastly, just before she fell asleep
She wondered what was it for
What would she do with it?
A question with no answer for

Next week was back to school.
She was fairly enthusiastic
She really liked school
And her grades where fantastic

She entered with a smile
Straight to the lockers
She kept her head high
And went straight towards hers

But then it happened
She ran out of luck
She fell on the floor
As her foot had stuck

A roar of laughter
Erupted around her
She could now already hear,
The gossip soon to come about her

That's when she knew
What to do with the face
Quietly she pulled it out
And put it firmly in place

She was hurt, she knew it
But her face showed a smile
She knew the look was fake
But the move was worthwhile

They talked of it for the day,
She kept the face on
Next day she took it off
As they all had moved on.

Only a week had passed
When she had to use it again
To cover with a smile
The look of grave pain

Her bestie, G, since kindergarten
Passed by her in the hallway
She waved at her friend
But G didn't even look her way

She felt it like a jackhammer
Right over her heart
The shock of her best friend's calm
Tore her insides apart

She took the face out
And put it on
The smile made her look brave
Not showing what was going on.

Every time, afterwards
When she saw G
Covering her emotion
The face would be.

She had a crush in her class
He was such a sweet guy
And he would smile at her too
Whenever she walked by

One day she decided
To tell that she like him
But just when she turned a corner....
There was someone beside him.

Her heart beat went silent
Or was it to fast to be heard?
She didn't care though,
All she felt was the hurt.
