jihoon notices the tone of her voice, "shit, i'm sorry, mi, i shouldn't have—"

miran interrupts him," no, it's okay. you just don't want me to get hurt. i appreciate that you just want to look out for me, but you have to remember i'm not your little twin sister that follows and clings onto you in the playground anymore. above anything else, he's still my best friend."

"i know, but you've always put others before yourself, and that worries me."

miran opens her mouth to reply but closes it. she stays silent.

"the park twins getting sentimental. a rare moment," yoonbin says in an attempt to lighten the mood. he knows it works when two pillows come flying towards him. "settle down."

the three hear the twins' mom call them. jihoon exits the room first, and yoonbin and miran follow him as he walks down the stairs.

"well, somebody's hungry," yoonbin laughs, sitting down.

"driving tired me out. this is why miran drives more between the two of us," jihoon shrugs, filling his bowl with the spicy rice cakes.

"dude, stop, you're gonna take it all," she smacks jihoon's hand with her chopsticks.

"there's more on the stove, don't fight. leave some for your dad too," their mom says, taking her apron off. "i'll be going to bed now, please try to minimize the volume. i could hear you three down all the way down here before."

"i'll try to keep them quiet as best as i could," yoonbin sighs, putting food in his bowl as well. their mom laughs.

"your dad will be home at around two a.m. if you're still awake by then, don't bother him at all. he's had a long week and a half."

the two nod their head and their mom leaves the kitchen, leaving the three to eat in silence.
