Adrien's POV
Chloe, Lila, and I watched as Mari looked for me. She seemed to give up after a minute, and just went back into the dressing rooms. Chloe and Lila took this opportunity to run toward the dressing rooms themselves, and crouch down so they wouldn't be seen. I followed suit. They made it just in time to see Marinette walk into the dressing room at the farthest end. They looked at each other, smirked, then turned back to me with mischievous glints in their eyes. I knew what they were planning was huge.
"Adrikins," Chloe started in a whisper, "we need you to go in there and start to seduce her. Then we'll come in and assist you with beating her sorry ass."
Lila laughed maniacally. "She won't know what hit her. We even brought a toy to use."
At that moment, Lila broke out a broken wine bottle from her bag. It was sharp and rigid. It could do some serious damage if used in the right way. Marinette was fucked.
They both laughed together, and stood up from their crouching position. I didn't stand up quite yet. Chloe and Lila looked at me funny.
"C'mon, Adrikins. We need to do this before the store gets more crowded," Chloe urged.
Lila, who seemed to agree with everything, decided to chime in, "Yeah, let's have some fun!"
With a sigh, I stood up. They stared at me expectantly. I walked over to Mari's dressing room when I realized why they were staring at me. I turned to them as I made a plan of my own.
"Let me handle this one alone," I suggested.
"Oh, but I wanted it to be a team effort," Lila whined.
"Not today," I explained. "I've been under a lot of stress that has to be released in some way. Make sure nobody is near the dressing rooms."
The two of them looked at each other almost like they could telepathically communicate with one another. They then looked back at me quizzically, but I ignored them. I turned toward the door and took a deep breath.
As I balled my hand into a fist and prepared to knock on the door, I hesitated. She had opened up to me. I had spent years upon years hurting her. Physically and mentally. And on top of that, she was going home to abusive parents. The only reason I knew this was because she told me herself. She trusted me enough to do that. There was the other fact that she had seen what happened with Father. She could empathize with me. I finally found somebody that I could share this burden with.
But then there was my reputation. The thing I had worked on my entire life. The thing my dad made sure was perfect. The thing that was perfect. The thing that allowed me to beat up people, to dabble with drugs, to have tons of amounts of hot sex. I wasn't Adrien Agreste without my reputation. I was a nobody without my reputation. I could have been Iike Marinette without my reputation.
So I knocked on her door. She opened it almost immediately.
"Hey," she greeted. "I was looking for you earlier. I was going to show you the outfit that I tried on."
I was going to respond when I noticed the outfit she was currently trying on. It was a normal black tank top and a pair of black jean shorts. She looked sexy, dangerous even. But I needed to ignore what she was wearing. My reputation is on the line. I walked into the dressing room.
"W-what are you d-doing?" she seemed concerned.
And she should be concerned.
"Look," I started, deciding I would skip the bullshit, "I have to beat you up."
She obviously tensed. I saw her visibly begin to shake. I instinctively walked over and put my hands on her shoulders to try and calm her down.
"Chloe and Lila are here," I began to explain in a whisper. "They are under the impression that I'm here because I saw you come here and I knew that they were coming here."
She started taking quick and shallow breaths and I was scared she was going to pass out.
"Marinette, I'm not going to actually hurt you," I said in a barely audible voice.
She immediately calmed a small percent, but her pupils were still a bit dilated.
"H-how are you g-going to d-do t-that?" she stuttered.
There was no way to do this without it being weird and uncomfortable.
"Lie down on the ground on your side. I'm going to start yelling some things; you just fake cry or something that you used to do when—" I cut myself off, knowing this was already the repetition of what I used to do to her.
"I-I understand," she let out a shaky sigh.
With that, she got on the ground, and accidentally flashed the lace underwear she was currently wearing. I averted my eyes, and channeled the douchebag from only a while ago. I began with my taunts, and she started her fake tears. What hurt me the most was that her cries didn't sound so fake. After a few long minutes, I bent down toward her.
"I'm going to go get Lila and Chloe so they can see. Please just stay really still," I informed her.
Through real tears, she said, "Ok."
I exited the fitting room, and made my way toward the two bitches who stood there smirking.
"How was it?" Lila asked.
"Not bad," I shrugged. "I'm less stressed now."
I tried to sound nonchalant, but inside I was freaking out big time.
"Let's check it out then, Lila," Chloe suggested.
"She's passed out, I don't think she'll be any fun," I tried to convince them.
"We'll make our fun, Adrikins," Chloe winked.
The two of them then stalked over to the dressing room. I quickly followed, and prayed that Mari had stayed still and down like I had asked her to. The two went into the room, and smiled down at Mari who was still on the floor.
"What the hell does she think she's wearing?" Lila snickered.
Chloe snorted, "She's so ugly it's funny."
Lila and Chloe laughed like witches for a minute. Then, Lila and Chloe kicked, spat on, and hit Marinette. I almost intervened, but then I remembered what Chloe and Lila thought I was here for. I couldn't do anything, but watch. They seemed through after a while, and I almost sighed in relief.
"Adrien," Chloe turned to me with a wicked grin, "thanks for today. This was fun!"
"Yeah, Adrien. We needed this," Lila agreed with a smirk of her own.
I almost scowled. I almost gagged in disgust at Chloe and Lila. They were evil in its truest form. The worst part, I was worse than them at one point.
"No problem, ladies," I faked a smirk back.
Finally, the two of them left the store. I ran toward Marinette, and got on my knees. She was holding her sides—where she had been kicked a lot—and cried silently. My heart ached like it had never ached before.
I simply picked Marinette up bridal style and walked out of the store.
I held back my own tears as I whispered, "I'm sorry, Marinette."
Sorry it's been so long!!
