A beginning is always a start to something new.
I was excited more than being nervous.
Computers fascinated me and learning about it made me happy. The class which conducted the course was far from my vicinity which made it difficult for me to manage the chores.
Even then I was delighted although there was something which was constantly nagging my brain.
I didn't understand the haste in which Abba wanted me to get married. He was constantly travelling places to find a suitor. It made me question him.
Was I a burden to him?
What was the hurry?I was only twenty three.
I couldn't bring myself to ask him that.
He was taking a lot of stress which was affecting his health. I scolded him for worrying too much but he just kept doing what he wanted to do. Find suitors for me.
I hated being the reason behind his condition. If only I was a man then maybe he wouldn't have stressed himself.
Once I had asked him whether he really wanted a son instead. He had smiled at me and had said that a daughter is far better than a son.
But maybe those were just words...
Nevertheless I loved him. He was my only family, my friend. And I had eventually gave everything up trusting his decisions.
It was just another day when he had left early. Even I was getting late for my class. I couldn't fathom how would I be able to make it on time.
Just then I ran into Sameera."Hey Rabia." Sameera smiled at me.
"Hey!" I mumbled while I was locking the door.
"What's wrong?" She asked as sweat ran down my body.
I shrugged."I'm sorry actually I getting late for my class." I told her and she smiled again.
"Not to worry, I'll drop you on the way."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, let's go." She replied and I couldn't thank her enough. She was a God sent angel.
It was a pleasure to sit in her car. She owned a Mercedes.
We quickly got inside the car and she ignited the engine.
"So where should I drop you?" She asked me. Her eyes were focused on the roads.
"Cotton market."
"Okay, So which class have you joined?" She enquired.
"Computers." I answered before eyeing my watch.
I still had some time.
"That's good. I love computers. I wouldn't know what to do without them at my office." She laughed and I smiled at her.
She was always encouraging in such matters.
She believed in Feminism and Women Upliftment. She suddenly stopped the car near the building.
"There you go. Is that the class you have joined?" She enquired.
"Yes. Thank you so much, Sameera. I wouldn't have been able to reach on time if it weren't you."
She waved her hand off, "Rabia, It's my pleasure and all the best for your course. I hope you enjoy it."
I thanked here again before getting out of the car.
We said our good byes before she drove off.
I made my way to the class.
I was lucky that our teacher hadn't arrived.
