Rabia's Pov.
Standing by the river, in a long white dress, I am witnessing my mirror image in the water. Moonlight is making the darkness disappear and everything seems so beautiful.
It's so peaceful here but there's someone who is standing right behind me for as long as I can see it's reflection. My heart starts throbbing loudly as I hear my name being called in a very melodious voice..."Rabia."
"Rabia, Rabia! Are you day-dreaming again?" I instantly look up to see my Father standing by the door and I realise that I was actually day-dreaming.
Oh! Not again....
"Rabia!" I hear his stern voice and I quickly get up from my bed.
"Assalam Alaikum, Abba." I greet my father and he responds politely.
"Do you need anything?" I asked and he nodded his head.
"Rabia, Your Rahmaan Chacha (paternal uncle) is coming tonight." His eyes sparked as he mentioned about his brother.
My smile got bigger when I hear this.
Rehmaan Chacha is my only uncle and my most favourite person beside Abba.
He's one of the humblest human being, I've ever come across. He lives with his family in Hyderabad but he do visits us whenever he's able to.
"Is Fahad also coming with him?" I asked about my cousin.
"I don't know dear, Rehmaan didn't talk much." Abba replied confused.
I smile shyly and strode to my room.
After offering Namaz (prayer), I get inside the kitchen while Abba is in the verandah.
I'm really very happy today so I decide to make Haleem for dinner.
Rehmaan Chacha loves Haleem and even that idiot Fahad does.Fahad, Rehmaan Chacha's son is a year older to me. he's still an idiot but I really like him...
I don't even know when my feelings for him developed. The last time I met him was at his maternal cousin Tasleem's wedding.
I keep my thoughts aside and continue to dice the onions and simultaneously prepare carrot halwa.
It's seven when I'm done with the dishes.
I sigh out loud and get back to my room and change these dirty and sweaty clothes into something nice and bright.
I braid my hair and cover my head with my dupatta (scarf).
As I step out of my room, my eyes land on the clock. I stroll towards Abba (Dad) as he's comfortably seated on his chair reciting verses from Quran (Holy book).
"Abba, When will they come?" I asked him and he instantly looked up.
"Umm... any moment". He said and continues to read.
While I sprint towards the balcony and look down, I finally spot him getting down from the cab with a small bag.
Disappointment seals my soul when Rehmaan chacha shuts the door of the cab and picks up his bag.
Fahad didn't come!
My mood still lightens as I'm happy at my uncle's arrival.
"Abba! he's here." I announced while Abba is placing the holy book on the shelf.
His face reflects happiness when he hears it. He walks towards the door while I stand behind.
They hug each other once he steps up...
He glances over me and his lips settles into a thin line.
He quickly masks his emotions and smiles.
Though I can't find that happiness in his eyes anymore.
