What happens when you wake up in a body that is not yours? You are aware of your own thoughts, past memories, and feelings, yet you do not know where you are or what to do. Most importantly, what happens if you are in the body of Taehyung? And what...
So, Map of the soul persona just came out and like: Let's all remember how to breathe......
Okay anyways I have some theories of my own, butt no so much for what happened in the MV, but for the whole album in general. Let me explain....
So, persona. What does persona mean? Persona is basically what you want others to see you as. It's your mask, your played image. You want other people to see you in a certain way.
This is the album of Map of the soul: persona - Intro: Persona Boy with luv(feat.Halsey) Mikrokosmos Make it Right Home Jamais Vu Dionysus
Now if you haven't noticed already, most of these songs are upbeat and happy and energetic. They are lively. To me personally, it is not really BTS's style compared to their older songs. These songs are really different from their previous albums. Now I noticed something on their album cover.

If you notice in the heart, persona is all the way to the right at the very corner opposite of where the map of the soul is. The persona is clearly nowhere near the map of the soul. It is just the surface of the heart or soul. It is a mask, a cover up.
So could this possibly mean that this album is what BTS wants the world to see them as. They are putting on a show. This album just covers the surface, but BTS will go and dive in deeper. This album is telling people, "Listen. You can choose whatever mask you want, but in the end that is not who you are." This album is perhaps a reflection of BTS's persona.
BTS is just covering the surface. My theory is that there next albums will be darker more eerie. They will cover what it truly means to embrace and reveal who you truly are. Carl Jung mentions in his book Map of the Jung that in order to embrace your true self you must learn to embrace your shadow and persona. What is a shadow? The shadow of your unconsciousness is what you don't want at all. It's the little things that you don't want others to see. So you try to push them all the way back into your unconsciousness. This isn't good. Carl mentions to embrace your everything, whether you like it or not. Only then can you reveal the map of the soul.
So back to the album persona. BTS changes their style to match their persona. This era is all about fun, and good times, and finding antidotes to be happy, and making things right (hence the Make it Right song) and so on. Yet, BTS still have to cover so much more. For now let's enjoy their persona because it will get darker from here on.
Again these are just theories of mine and I have no idea if it's true or not. Please don't hurt me if you don't agree. I hope you liked this... 💜💜💜 Andremember. I purple you !
