Beryl jumped off the bed, his hands up in the air with a confused look on his face. "What's the 'kid' done? He's only been here for four days."
Quinn pulled away, tucking me protectively behind his back. "Zero, tell us, you don't normally keep secrets from us."
"Pretty sure the kid's already told you," Looking over Quinn's shoulder, his stormy grey eyes boring into me, "He knows his secret is safe as long as everyone knows it." Zero stormed over, forcing Beryl and Quinn out of the way. His large hands wrapped around the scruff of my shirt, dragging me to the door.
Charlie must of told him. Shit, Zero's never this furious, he's always been relaxed around myself and everyone.
"We left a present on your bed, Lou." Beryl shouted, barely audible over my grunts and the scuffling of our shoes.
"Zero, let go." Trying to wiggle out of his harsh grip, he grey eyes stared me down. He kicked open the door open, revealing the living room and curious wide eyes.
Mason and Leighton both looked up at us, the book Leighton was teaching to him dropped to the floor. A pin drop. Mason held back Leighton before he could do anything as he wrapped his hand around Leighton's mouth whilst whispering in his ear.
"It's going to hurt," Mason mouthed, his face nonchalant to Zero's doing. "Trust Zero-" Before Mason could mouth anymore, Zero shoved me into his room, my hands scraping against the floor.
Because trust is going to save me, note the sarcasm.
Zero's room smell of dulled paint and the secure smell of peppermints, the two contrasting with one another. His walls were dark blue with dark brown oak doors on both sides of the room. Three of walls had been painted along with the ceiling, different flowers and animals and people all decorating the walls. No doubt Zero's work. Painting utensils where neatly placed in the corner along with half done canvases.
I looked up at Zero, who hadn't moved since he closed the door. He looked straight towards the back wall, his stormy eyes never meeting mine. "Zero, talk to me." I whispered, stepping out of his grasp.
His looked my way, taking small intimidating steps toward me, "Talk to you? All you do is open your mouth." He rolled his eyes, putting his arms on either side of my head.
When did I walk backwards?
"Don't act so innocent, you know it's true," He smiled, his pearly whites gleaning back at me. "All you do is say what comes to your mind; 'You want to escape Paradise like we actually have a chance?'" He mimicked, rolling his eyes.
"What happens if we do have a chance? What about that, Zero? Don't you want to get out of here?" He took a step back, shaking his head as bitter laughs left his lips.
The room became dark, everything closing in in on just him. His golden hair that shined like the sun, but the sun can hide itself if it wants too.
"You think you have a chance?" He said, his eyes curiously focusing on me.
"Yes, Zero, we can get out if here! All of us, together." I said, a bit too enthusiastically. Maybe he'll see the truth to things.
"You fucking liar!" His fist punched the wall, a loud crunch resonating throughout the room. A massive hole now placed through the head of one of his angels in the art work.
Shit shit shit.
His hand lightly wrapped around my throat, "You really think you can escape? How clueless are you, Mason might have never had an education but at least he knows how to spot a retard when he see one." He laughed, his lips curling backwards into a snarl.
I subconsciously pressed myself further to wall, trying to escape his grasp around my throat. "Zero, please, let go of me! Your going hurting me!"
He brushed his golden hair back, his skin pale in the lighting, "I'm not even done with you yet. Are you already cowering away from me," He tightened his grip around my throat, his sharp claw-like nails leaving crescent moons in my neck.
I could feel sweat bedding my upper lip, my eyes darting round, looking for anything that can help me escape his grasp. But there was nothing, and maybe he's right. That there is no way of escaping. And once we're out, we have nothing.
"You know Paradise are the only people who want us?" He breathed in, collecting himself, "And I'll make sure you remember that."
He brought his fist down, his knuckles colliding with my cheek.
What...what just happened?
Shock took over before the pain did, surprise covering my face. "Zero...Zero, y-you just p-punched me." His grip losen do, allowing me to step out of his hold.
"Get it through you dumb head that escaping is not an option. Okay, kid?"
I simply nodded before running to my room, everyone had left the living room luckily allowing not to have to explain anything.
My room had been rebuilt, my reddened cheek staring back at me through the mirrors. I don't care if they're watching anymore. I ran to the bed, burring myself in the pillows only to feel something cool yet firm press into me.
I held a green book in my hands, the type Beryl writes in. Opening up the the book in hopes it would distract me, only to find the hand writing wasn't Beryls nor Quinns and neither of them had signed it.
It's was signed by Zero.
