"kristin, you didn't have to do that for me. i know you want a baby and i will never be able to provide that for you. go back to alex, i know he loves you."

"so, you're not willing?"

"can we talk outside and in private for a minute?"

"yeah, sure."

i walked out the door and closed it behind me; pete didn't come to resist the action.

"do you remember when you said that you didn't think i was in love with you the way i should have been?"

"i would never forget it, why?"

"you were right. i've noticed some things about myself that i've repressed throughout the years and made myself put back. i think i'm gay and i have a date inside my house right now. his name is pete and i really like him. i'm sorry i can't give you a second chance, even though i would if i could."

"i understand. i'm sure alex will understand, too. i'll just tell him i'm on my period and i'm going crazy."

"wait, you don't get periods when you're pregnant..."

"it's not like he'd know that. bye, mikey. while i'm going to get pregnant again, enjoy your date with that pete guy! take my advice and please don't get pregnant!" we both laughed and she walked away to her car. she drove off and i entered the house again, pete waiting near the door for me.

"what'd she have to say?"

"not much," i responded. "everything is okay now."

"that's good. i didn't want to have to break up some argument. that's one thing i am not the best at."

"you should meet kristin formally one time. she's so sweet. maybe we can arrange some type of double date."

"a double date with your ex? sounds amazing."

we both laughed and walked back inside to continue our date.
