Anna POV:
After spending some time on the beach, we got sick and tired of the sand constantly making its way in to our towels and blowing itself on to our faces, so Zayn, Liam, Mae and I decided to head to the rocks right at the other end of the beach. Liam and I walked side by side ahead of Mae and Zayn. The smell of the sea always made me think of home. I adored the beaches back in Australia, but Australia itself had gotten so familiar and honestly… a tad boring. But the beach never gets boring to me. No matter where I am. I sigh as I continue walking, breathing in the salty ocean air.
“What?” Liam asks next to me, pulling me out of my trance.
“Hm?” I hum back.
“You sighed? What were you thinking about?” He questions.
“Oh… nothing. I just love the beach!” I exclaim with enthusiasm.
“Really? So do I! I loved the beaches in Australia. They were so nice, but the fishing sucked.”
“Well actually, my dad has once brought home 10 fish! Sadly I don’t like fish, so I didn’t eat, but it’s still quite a bit. You,” I poke his cheek, “just don’t know where to fish,” I smile.
“Well the next time One direction are in Australia, you’ll just have to show me them,” He replies with a wink.
“Will do,” I say, laughing. I looked up and noticed that we were approaching the rocks. I looked out to the horizon and smiled. I loved how it seemed to go on forever. Just a never ending beauty as I like to call it. Liam seems to have noticed me staring and grabs my arm, giving it a little squeeze. I turn my attention back to him and smiled.
“Sorry… again,” I look down, a small blush creeping up my cheeks.
“It’s okay. I actually think it’s great that you’re so passionate about the ocean. I love it too. That reminds me. Would you like to go for a swim Ms Smith?” He asks me, holding out his hand. I giggle lightly at his very posh accent.
“Why yes, I would Mr Payne.” I return with the same accent, grabbing hold of his outstretched hand. We laugh as head to the water. By now, we had already abandoned our beach equipment and stripped of our clothes, leaving us only in our swimmers. We run, hand in hand into the salty, clear blue water. The water isn’t very cold but feels so good against my hot skin. I dive into the water once I’m deep enough. I smile widely as I resurface, my hair soaked and sticking to my neck. I adore the water so much its unbelievable. I love the feeling when you dive into the water, swimming around underwater. It’s like exploring another world.
Liam, I can see has done the same and he resurfaces, his hair flattened down and body glistening with water. Damn, he looks sexy. I realized I was staring once he shot me an odd looked and I splashed him with water. He was too busy defending himself from the incoming water to notice my pink cheeks. He gives me an over exaggerated hurt look and puts his hand over his heart.
“I’m wounded. What was that for?” he asks. I just shrug and laugh.
“For fun!” I reply and splash with water once again - this time he death stares me and returns the splash. I squeal, not expecting it and soon, we are having a water-splashing war. With every splash he gets closer and closer to me, the blows weakening as he doesn’t want to hurt me. Sweet, but we are still in battle. I return every splash but am cut off by a large, strong pair of arms hugging me. I laugh and squeal as those same arms lift me out of the water and throw me over Liam’s shoulder. We weren’t too deep into the water as his torso was still out of the water. I squeal again and start kicking around, wanting to be put down. Once he finally complies and sets me in the water, I slap his arm and laugh.
