Mae POV …

Zayn and I had walked down together with Liam and Anna to sunbathe on the rocks. The tide was low, so we had no trouble with waves crashing upon the rocks and soaking us. I had brought minimal items with me – my towel, sunnies, and a bag with tanning oil and a bottle of water. I’d buy chips up at the canteen if I wanted to.

We’d gone in for a dip earlier and the water was unusually cold, which prevented me from going back in again for a while. I eventually got too hot and forced myself to grow a pair and go back in – it wasn’t as bad the second time. I welcomed Zayn in continuously but he kept on shaking his head. Zayn had stood on the shore and dipped his feet in, and I’d learnt that he was unable to swim, which was a shame. 

Liam and Anna were now splashing water at each other and giggling very loudly, which was nice. It was awesome to see that Anna had found someone she enjoyed spending time with, because it was difficult for her to find friends back in Australia. She was falling hard for Liam and hopefully, he wasn’t going to break her heart. She deserved better.

I turned my head to look up at Zayn, who had his eyes shut. I could tell he was awake though, as his breathing was almost rapid. His eyebrows were knitted together and he appeared to be in deep concentration. I sighed, turning around and laying on my back. It was quiet – too quiet. I couldn’t hear Anna and Liam laughing anymore, and I became worried. I sat up to look for them.

Across the rocks and in the shallow end of the beach, there they stood, wrapping their arms around each other and making out. I rolled my eyes, but smiled. It was kinda cute how Anna looked incredibly shaken and Liam incredibly nervous – kind of innocent. They pulled apart and smiled at each other. Suddenly, a shadow was cast over my body. I looked up.

“Hey there,” Zayn murmured, looming over me while offering his hand for me to get up. I smiled brightly.

“I thought you were asleep,” I lied. He returned the grin. He then shook his head and pulled me up after I’d placed my hand in his. He brought me to his chest quickly and looked down in to my eyes. I gasped.

“Hi,” I said, shifting my eyes to look at his. He laughed.

“Hello,” he said. He suddenly picked me up and began to walk across the rocks. This was becoming a bad habit.

“Fuck Zayn, what the hell are you doing!” I squealed, squirming in his arms. He was making a bee line for the surf. But he didn’t know how to swim? I hit his shoulders a few times, but giving up quickly as he was too strong. He patted my butt and laughed. I hit him hard this time and started to laugh.

“Zayn – what,” I began, but he set me down in to the shallow water. My toes curled under the sand. I looked over my shoulder to the ocean, admiring it. I hated sand, but water wasn’t bad. We stood there for a moment before I began to wrap my hands around his waist. It was nice.  He began to trail his fingers up and down my back, sending tingly sensations across it, before wrap his arms around my thighs. What -

“Jump,” he whispered, almost demanded. I did. My legs were now around his waist, kind of in a piggy-back but on the front sort of position. It was hard to explain. I saw a flash in the corner of my eye. What was that? I turned my head but was stopped by Zayns hand.

“Zayn, seriously, what are you getting at, I thought you couldn’t swi–,“ He smashed his lips against mine.

Zayn POV …

I knew the paparazzi were behind those bushes over there. I knew they still thought I was with Perrie … but the truth was that I’d broken up with her last night before I went out. That’s why she was so mad at me this morning – we’d just broken up and I’d brought someone over to her house. It wasn’t exactly the smartest thing to do, but I needed to collect from stuff from hers. I’d go back and collect it this afternoon.
