"That's what I thought."
----
"Yea, well, joke's on you, we don't love each other," Dongmin finally retorted after what seemed to be years of speechless silence.
"Dude, don't even. That response was way too late. It's been like, ten minutes since I even made that remark. Sanha and I have made it through at least 4 songs since then." Minhyuk tapped on the screen of his phone a few times and held it up in the air for the two on the bed to see. It was focused on his 'Recently Listened To' playlist. He pointed to four songs at the top of the list and the fifth one they were currently listening to. "See?"
Dongmin scoffed. He had to try his best to get the attention off the relationship between him and his best friend. "You listen to some weird stuff."
"Yeah, like your voice," Minhyuk groaned, lowering his hand and putting it down between him and Sanha. He went to put the earbud back in his ear, but suddenly his head shot up. "Hey! Don't change the subject!"
With a light heart, Moonbin smiled to himself and pulled the comforter up even further, making sure it covered the rest of face. He was trying to keep himself from laughing at the whole situation, even though he wanted to, so he decided it would be best if he simply tucked himself away. He flipped onto his other side, facing the wall, before finally allowing himself to let out a series of silent giggles. He put a hand over his mouth just to ensure that nobody could tell he was laughing.
"What about you, Bin, huh? I can see the blanket moving, I know you're laughing. What's your take on all of this?"
The pinkette went silent, and ever so slowly, he pulled the blanket down to reveal his flushed and nervous face. "Uhm... what?"
"Don't think you can get out of this, Mr Pink-Haired-Laugh-a-Lot. You're not innocent, either." Minhyuk nodded in agreement with his own words and nudged Sanha with his foot, as he had stood up some time ago. The youngest knew what the older was trying to convey and very discreetly pulled the headphones out of his ears, listening in on what was going on. This was going to bring drama, and he was totally up for it.
"What do you want me to say, exactly?" the pinkette asked softly, shrinking in on himself. Of course, he knew what they wanted to hear, but it wasn't something he wanted to say.
"Do you love Dongmin?"
"As a friend, yes."
"And romantically? Do you love him romantically?"
"W-well--"
"He already denied to loving you like that, so now all we need is your answer."
The pinkette knew he couldn't keep silent as his heart contracted and writhed within the confines of his chest, creating an ache that had become so familiar. If he did, they would take that as a yes, a yes that he did love Dongmin, a yes that his mind was never filled with anything else, a yes that the ghost of his friend's touch haunted him every night. He couldn't just say that he loved Dongmin like a friend, as it wasn't true; he loved him as something more. That thought, that sensation... it was like a curse, because he knew: he knew that the love he felt for his friend would never, ever bring him any sort of happiness. Yet he lived with it every day. Every damn day he lived and he breathed knowing that he wouldn't be happy, and that any sort of happiness he felt, even remaining as a friend, was going to be taken away from him soon enough.
"We're waiting~" the brunette teased, plopping down on the edge of the bed.
And with a shallow breath, Moonbin crossed his fingers beneath the comforter and forced a reassuring smile. Nobody could tell just how bittersweet it truly was. "No, of course not. Are you crazy? I'm into girls. Didn't I tell you just a while ago that I had a crush on someone? What was her name? Uhm--"
