Tonight would have to be the night.
----
Moonbin, despite his sore body, decided to stay in the same position he had been in all night, arm laying across the couch cushion by Dongmin's stomach, head tucked into his elbow. A deep breath in and a deep breath out, that was what he had been doing for however long he had been sitting there.
He had thought about how to go about things and what to do afterwards, and surprisingly, he had managed to come up with a decent plan. It wasn't overly complicated, maybe a bit expensive, but it was worth it.
Why?
Because Dongmin was worth it. He was worth every penny, every deep breath in and every deep breath out, every tear, and every smile.
Dongmin was worth it.
Nothing would change that.
The pinkette's older friend had told him to be selfish, so he was going to be. He was going to be as selfish as he could; he was going to, just for these remaining 14 days, put his happiness first.
Now, all he had to do was wait for the sleeping boy to wake up.
Moonbin checked his phone again to see if he had any notifications that may have kept him entertained, yet much to his dismay, there wasn't anything. He huffed and quietly pulled himself up off the floor. He couldn't stop himself from letting out a groan at how good it felt to be able to stretch out his limbs and get out of that back breaking position. He stuck his arms up in the air and bent back a bit, allowing his muscles to relax and, hopefully, stop aching.
The drowsy boy fumbled with his phone as he made his way over to the kitchen. He noticed that Minhyuk's coffee was still sitting on the counter, untouched. He considered it for a second, shrugging his shoulders, and decided that maybe he should just finish off the caffeinated beverage for him. He couldn't just let it go to waste, after all. "Well," he mumbled, wrapping his slim fingers around the coffee cup, "let's just hope he didn't backwash." And with that, he brought the drink up to his lips and took a long sip. Despite the enjoyable flavor, the moment he pulled it away his face instantly crinkled up. It was cold, very cold. It took him off guard.
He gave it a look of dissatisfaction as he calmly set it back down on the marbled counter. He pretended it wasn't there and that he hadn't just taken a large swig of it only seconds ago. Really, if there was one thing he didn't like, it was cold coffee. However, he couldn't have been expecting much in the first place. The beverage had been sitting out for hours, unattended.
Moonbin sat down on one of the stools, feet instantly finding the bars at the bottom out of habit. He only sighed when he accepted the fact that he had to wait for his friend to wake up--which could take another few hours--with absolutely nothing to occupy himself with. He had the things in his room to keep him entertained, like books and notepads, but if he was being completely honest, reading and sketching wasn't for him. The only reason he had gotten any of those items was so Dongmin had things to do while over at his house.
Dongmin was a book lover and an artist, and the pinkette loved it. He treasured the moments where he could watch the older read, studying the emotions that flashed across his face as each sentence was read. He adored being able to deduce all the ideas that flashed through Dongmin's eyes whenever he put a pencil to paper.
The pinkette smiled at all the memories that raced through his mind. If there was anyone on the planet who was more lovesick than Phun and Noh--what could he say? He was a sucker for dramas--it would be him. He almost giggled at the cherished moments replaying in his head. For the third time, he retrieved his phone from his pocket, immediately going to his photo gallery. He tapped on the screen a few times before a photo popped up. The fondness in his eyes and the adoration of his smile only grew when he took in the snapshot.
It was a messy photo, but one that he loved more than anything. Thinking back on it, that day had been quite eventful. The school fair had just occurred and worn all energy out of both Moonbin and Dongmin. And even though they were both tired, they still made time for each other, dinking around in the younger's bedroom. Dongmin's hair was messy that day, and he wore a white t-shirt that was much too big for his slim frame. The photo was evidence of their time spent together; Dongmin's ruffled hair swept to the side, a bright smile on his face, hands attempting to cover his rosy cheeks from the flash of the camera.
Moonbin slid his thumb to the left, another picture popping up on his screen. This time, it was a snapshot that was much calmer. Less was going on. It was simply Dongmin, the small, close mouthed smile slowly spreading from ear to ear, cheek pressed up against a pillow. The pinkette felt a minor stab to his chest. Dongmin almost looked as if... he were in love.
Moonbin took a quick intake of breath, swiping the screen once more.
Ahh, this picture...
Instead of Dongmin, it was a picture of Myungjun. It was before he had blonde hair, before he began wearing shorts and t-shirts, back when he wore sweatshirts and jeans all the time, back when he wasn't the sassy mother, back when he wasn't someone who just wanted to be cool. It was a picture of Kim Myungjun, normal, average Kim Myungjun; loved, adored, perfect Kim Myungjun. His brown hair brushed the skin just below his eyebrows (under his black hood, of course), a silly grin on his face, sweater paws covering up the peace sign he was making next to his face.
Moonbin swiped again and again.
Each picture had a story of its own, each as important than the last. At least while he was gone, he would have these with him, there for whenever he needed something to uplift his mood. However, he doubted it would make him feel any better. If anything, he would only feel more homesick, only more upset, only more hopeless, only--
"Binnie?"
The pinkette looked up from his phone quickly, the voice startling him. He hurriedly switched his device off and set it down on the counter. "Min, you're finally up." Moonbin pulled Dongmin's cold coffee out of the holder, waiting to hand it over to the sleepy boy once he was more awake.
The older yawned and rubbed his eyes a few times. When he had first woken up, he hadn't bothered trying to wait with standing up until he was fully awake. The moment he saw light coming from the kitchen, he had forced himself to get up. "How long did I sleep?" he asked, rubbing his stomach through his thin shirt. "I'm hungry..."
"For one: you slept the whole day away. I just about woke you up with cold water." Moonbin laughed off the lie, making it seem believable.
"You did not."
"Oh, but I did." Moonbin stood up from the stool, walking over to his friend. "And two," he said, handing over the drink, "I have donuts, so eat whatever is left to your heart's content." As Dongmin reached for his drink, of which he knew was cold, Moonbin turned and went back to his seat. He had to stop himself from reaching out and running a hand through his friend's hair until it ached.
The older boy took a sip from his cup and smiled in content. His eyes landed on the donuts, whole face lighting up. He raced over to the counter and sat down his drink. He practically ripped the top off the box of treats in excitement. His stomach growled in hunger at the sight, tongue sliding across his bottom lip. "Yum!" he exclaimed. He giggled to himself as he picked up a donut, chewing on it happy the moment it was close enough to be bitten. "I haven't had donuts in so long! If only I could wake up to this every morning..."
"It's not morning."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Dongmin sent the pinkette an annoyed glance. "Just let me eat my donuts in peace, jerk."
"Okay, I will, I swear." Moonbin went to stretch out his pinky as a promise when he remembered how Dongmin didn't like physical contact, least of all with him. He awkwardly let his pinky curl back up. "Min," the younger started.
"Hmm?" Dongmin responded, cheeks full of donut.
"When you're done eating, put your jacket on. We're gonna go outside."
The older raised an eyebrow but nodded nonetheless. "Alright."
