Still, the both of them said nothing.

-1 Day Remaining-
"Look, before you get all mad at me, let me just say I'm sorry. I know it wasn't any of my business, but--"
"Hey, what are you talking about? I'm not mad." Moonbin quietly shut the bedroom door as he stepped inside. "If anything, I was just surprised. You've never just... burst like that." He laughed slightly and made his way over to the bed, where he sat down. He heard a bark behind him, and he turned to see Kit, wagging her tail, tongue stuck out happily. The pup jumped onto his lap, pressing her little paws to his stomach in an attempt to get some attention. He scooped her up in his arms and ran his fingers up and down her belly. "See?" he asked, looking up at his friend. "If I was mad, she would have been able to tell."
Dongmin couldn't help but smile. It was great that Moonbin wasn't mad at him. He didn't know what he would do with himself if he were. And now that he knew he wasn't going to be yelled at, the anger from earlier drained from his chest. Yes, he still hated his friend's father, but that hate could be put on hold for the time being. "Yeah, I guess so." He shook his head at his own stupidity, walking over to the bed and sitting down beside the pinkette. "Wait," he began, looking from side to side, the absence of his dog creeping up on him. "Where's Ming?" His eyes searched for a patch of fur hidden away in one of the corners, or maybe in the crack of the closet door, but there was nothing.
As if on cue, a small puppy crawled out from under the bed. He jumped onto the mattress and immediately bit Dongmin's sleeve. He tugged at it, yet he wasn't harsh enough to rip the fabric, just enough to soak it in saliva.
Dongmin sighed, trying to be angry. "That's where you were." And despite his effort, he found he sounded more relieved than annoyed. "You're always hiding. It's ridiculous." He clicked his tongue, placing his hands under the dog's stomach and lifting him up. He was smiling, yet he didn't know it himself. In fact, Moonbin had to be the one to tell him.
"He's not going to take you seriously if you're smiling at him," Moonbin chided, wagging a finger at the male. He fell back onto the bed, and Kit went right along with it, curling up on his stomach in a miniature ball. His eyebrows creased as his smile suddenly began to feel strained; he had a hard time keeping it on his face. He thought that maybe he had been forcing it unknowingly this whole time.
He glanced at his friend, who appeared to be paying full attention to the puppy sprawled out on his lap. He realized his friend's smile was probably forced, too. "Hey, Dongmin." The male looked to him instantly, and the only thing he saw looking back at him were eyes full of sadness. "Why don't you lay down with me?" He pat the space beside him, and just as he expected, Dongmin set his puppy to the side and fell onto his back. Their shoulders were touching, and this time, neither of them were going to pull away.
"So, what do we do now?"
"I... I really don't know."
Moonbin sighed unsteadily. Really, could they do anything? He turned his head to the side, examining his friend's profile. He had to memorize it all: the curve of his nose, the texture of his lips, the color of his star graced eyes. If he didn't memorize it all now, down to the very last detail, he was afraid that once he was gone, he would forget completely, and he couldn't just forget.
"Moonbin, have you heard of the multiverse?" Dongmin asked softly, eyeing what seemed to be a white abyss above him. He slowly stretched out his pinky until it touched his friend's, and from there he waited for the male to lace their fingers. He knew he would.
