Joe's POV:
It was now week two and Dianne and I are doing the Charleston. I hadn't quite figured out how I felt about this weeks dance just yet. It was really fast paced and the song was a complete nightmare for me. Cotton eye Joe - either it is the fact that this is the most irritating song on the planet, or it's the hundreds of scarring memories form my childhood that made me hate this song. I mean who could possibly tell?
Either way today Dianne and I were heading to Lacock to film our VT for this week. Our routine is thatching related and it only seemed right that we head back to my home town and I should teach Di the ropes. Our train leaves in about 40 minutes, so we made a quick stop in the station to have some breakfast. We were both on our phones until eventually I looked up to see Di, slouched over, her head on her hand, and her elbow on the table. She looked at her phone in a sort of shocked, delirious state.
"Everything alright Di?" I asked feeling genuinely concerned about her.
"What - oh...Um... yeah. Just a bit of... Uh.... Bit of an issue that I have to deal with later." Dianne replied sluggishly, not taking her eyes off of her phone."Seriously though, it's nothing. It's all good." She continued seeming slightly paranoid
"Well whatever it is, I promise that I'm here if you need a shit joke or some questionable advice." I joked hoping to lighten her mood. Dianne's eyes flicked off of her phone and onto me as she gave out a loud laugh. The smile was brought back onto her face - her posture was corrected and she put her phone away.
"So what seats have we got for the train?" Dianne questioned, taking her mind off of whatever was on her phone.
"Coach 'F' seats 70 and 69 - hehe" I said giving a cheeky smirk and a chuckle, hoping that Dianne would understand what I was insinuating. Jokingly of course...
"It's a sooooiiiiiiggn" Dianne said equally chuckling back to me. It was moments like this that I loved between Dianne and I. There was no confusion between us. No camera'sand nothing to stop us from being absolutely random and weird around each other. Not to mention that her sense of humour is the best.
Sense of humour is what I have always found to be the most attractive quality in a girl, and this girl had me laughing every minute of everyday.
To say that I wanted to know more about Dianne's situation with Anthony was an understatement, but I also knew that what Dianne and I have is platonic. I mean sure maybe she will be the only person I could ever imagine having a future with and maybe I might possibly like her like that, but she still has someone and our relationship is a professional one. Nothing more - nothing less.
But what if?
What if she could like me like that as well. I mean maybe she does. Maybe she wants what I think I want, but the more likely answer is that she thinks I'm a friend - a work colleague. Someone she's forced to spend time with for this competition. For her job.
Who am I kidding - that's all she thinks.
"Shit Di, we better go get that train." I said coming out of my thoughts and looking at my watch. We hurried down to the platform and onto the train, only to realise that someone else was sitting in our seats. Not really caring and wanting to avoid a confrontation early on a Tuesday morning, we sat on the floor with our stuff in front of one of the trains emergency exit doors. Which is always.....Um....Safe?
We propped ourselves up opposite each other looking into each other's eyes with our legs intertwined - cracking jokes and laughing all the way back to my hometown.
Dianne's POV:
"Joe, you can't do this to me!! You know how much I hate heights!" Joe managed to convince me to go up the ladder to the top of the roof. I wasn't scared of much, but I always fucking hated heights. Joe stood at the bottom of the ladder and shook it slightly, making it wobble. Granted I was only about 3 steps up and not much higher than were I started, but it was still fucking terrifying.
