I finally found enough strength to get up and begin walking towards the park. I walked into the living room, and my mom’s body wasn’t even there. She was just gone. She really was dead. I opened up the door and began walking outside. The neighborhood looked nice and peaceful. There was a black van sitting in our driveway and my car sitting next it. I walked off of the patio and down the steps, turned the corner and down the drive way. I ran down to the street, and began walking down the road. The pain became to rush down my body, and I could feel the blood rushing down my face as I walked down the street. I turned down the first corer and into the school parking lot. I walked around the school and into the park area. Riya was sitting on the curb. Se had her head between her knees.

I began walking towards her when something grabbed once again. I turned around to see Lana standing there. “God damn it Lana you scared me.” I demanded.

She was wearing a pink sweatshirt with blue jeans. She has smooth skin with a shadow box hair style. It was blonde on the top and a dark brown at the bottom. She had her hair pulled back that you could see the difference of colors very easy. “What’s going on? What do you mean they found us?” She looked scared as she looked at me. “Where’s Riya?” I pointed over to her. “Where’s your mom.” I just looked at her and nodded my head no. “Alex, where is your mom?” I looked at her and just started bawling. Lana grabbed me quick and hugged me tight. It hadn’t hit me till now. That she was really gone. That I was never going to see her again. She was the only person besides Dylan who actually listened to me, and really cared for me. Lana was also another person who did. She held me tight and tears rushed onto her pink sweatshirt. I felt a tug on my shirt and I let go of Lana. Lana moved back and saw Riya standing beside us. “Riya, Alex is telling me what happened. I need you to go play okay?” Lana pointed to the playground and Riya walked over to it. Lana looked at me again. “Alex, I need you to tell me what happened.”

She grabbed my arm and pulled me to the curb. She took off her jacket, and put it on the ground. Her white tank top shinned my eyes. She lifted up her pink jacket and began wiping my face off. “What are you trying to do?” I asked closing my eyes so that the jacket wouldn’t get into my eyes.

“You have blood all over yourself.” She wiped a little bit more and put her jacket down. “Now Alex the story.”

I looked over at her than down at my feet. “Well,” I cleared my throat. “Me and my mom were talking about telling Riya everything.”

“Everything?” Lana looked confused. “Why?”

“She’s figuring out more and more each day so why not. She is doing more, learning more. One day she needed to know and so we thought this would be the day. Someone knocked on the door, and so of course my mom went to go open it. She asked what they had, and why they were here. Then she fell. She was shot. I grabbed Riya and ran upstairs to her room. I moved the dresser in the way of the door so make some time. We made a rope out of blankets and I got Riya out. I hid in the closet, and when they thought that we were gone I ran out of the room. I turned the corner and there was a man there. I elbowed, and pushed him down the stairs. He grabbed me and we fell down together. After words I laid for a second and then just left, and now here I am.” I looked back up at her to see what she was going to say.
