Step 1: Locate where the fire is
Pyro desperately tried to find where Engie was, but to no avail. After the fire started, everyone scattered to get something to put out the fire, or just to escape it in general. Pyro was the only one that could try to stop the flames (since they were the only one with a fire retardant suit), so the team sent them in to fight the fire.
Step 2: Figure out what type of fire it is
Pyro knew it was their fault. They tipped over a candle in their room and a curtain caught fire. The BLU team gave Pyro a fire extinguisher that was for all fires. It may not be that effective, but at least they could put out any fire that happened in the base. They started to run towards their room, hoping to keep the flames at bay.
Step 3: Put out the fire (If the fire is too large, keep the fire at bay while waiting for the fire department)
All of the BLU team was fighting the fire outside. Medic called the fire department, who said that they would come as soon as they can. Not soon enough, the team thought. Pyro was killing off bits and pieces of the inferno, thankful that they had the suit that MANNCO gave them. They were wondering where Engie was when a giant plank fell in front of them. The base was collapsing.
Pyro narrowly avoided being hit, but couldn't believe how hot the flame was. Even with the flame retardant suit, it was too dangerous to try to go in any further. They tried to put the flames out around them, but it seemed like a futile effort.
A cough from behind them caught their attention. Pyro turned around and saw Engie coming out of the room to their left.
If you are not trapped inside of a burning building, ignore steps 4 and 5. If you are, please read these steps.
Step 4: If the fire somehow traps you inside of a building, wet a piece of clothing or a rag, put it over your mouth, and try to escape the fire
Pyro grabbed Engi by the shoulder and started pulling him out of the base. Engie was holding an extra shirt of his to his mouth, which was drench in water and dripping onto the floor. Engie gripped Pyro's hand tightly, glad that he put on his goggles. Without them, Engie didn't know if he would've even been able to open his eyes.
Step 5: Be careful when opening doors in a burning building; place your hand on the door to see if it's hot (If the door is hot, don't open it; it means that there's a fire behind it)
Pyro placed their hand on the exit door. It was hot. Damn it! They would have to have to find a nearby window to jump out of, since the other exit was on the other side of the base. Being extra cautious, Pyro lead Engie throughout the southern side of the base. Pyro knew that they would have to find an exit quickly, since Engie's shirt would eventually become dry. At last, they found a room with a window that lead them back to their team.
However, Engie had been suffering minor burns in their escape of the flames. Because of that reason, Pyro forced Engie out of the window first, after they broke it open of course. Engie made his way around the broken shards of glass in order to give Pyro some space to jump out. He wouldn't allow himself to go off and leave his one true friend behind. With some help, Pyro climbed out of the base. The two of them would have gotten off scott-free if another burning plank didn't fall off from the roof and landed on Engie's back.
If everyone escaped the fire and nobody is burned, ignore steps 6 through 9. If you or someone you love is burned from the fire, please read the following steps.
Step 6: Move the burn victim away from the fire.
Pyro lifted the plank from Engie's body, throwing it back into the room they escaped from. Pyro then dragged Engie to where the BLU team was. Everyone crowded around Engie and Pyro. They were all surprised yet relieved to see Engi wasn't on fire. Medic would have healed him right back up if his Medi-Gun wasn't locked up in the Med-Bay.
Step 7: Take, rip, or cut the clothing of the burn victim in order to better treat the burn
Medic got out a spare pair of surgery scissors that he carried in his pocket. He began to cut around the burn area. When he finished, he carefully removed the clothing and discarded them in a pile next to him.
Engie gasped in pain. He didn't know if he should be reassured that they were taking care of him, or distressed that they didn't just put him out of his misery right then and there.
Step 8: Pour water onto the burn slowly. This will help clean the wound and will provide relief to the burn victim
Pyro helped Medic in any way that they could. They brought a bucket of water to Medic and tipped it slowly onto Engie's back. Engie howled in anguish. It was nothing like he experienced. It was even worse than sawing off his own hand.
Pyro wished they could take away all of Engie's pain and put it on themselves. Engie doesn't deserve any of this. He doesn't deserve to suffer because of my idiotic actions.
Step 9: Wrap the burn wound loosely with a sterile, non-adhesive bandage or clean cloth that won't leave any lint in the wound. Do NOT apply any ointment onto the wound, as this could cause infection.
Medic decided to make the sacrifice and cut his lab coat into strips to wrap around Engie. Earlier, he took of his lab coat and placed it on a random pipe that he found while fighting the blaze. He ordered Scout to fetch it while also ordering Heavy to get more water. Both left as soon as Medic finished talking.
Pyro tipped another bucket of water onto Engie's back. What they wouldn't give to go back in time to right the massive wrong they made today. Engie, gritting his teeth, growled when he felt the water splash onto his back.
Scout came back with the lab coat at the same time Heavy returned with three buckets of water. The rest of the team felt that to try to save their base would be in vain. The only hope they had now was to save their teammate from permanent scarring or even death.
After cleaning the scissors on his pants, Medic began the process of cutting up his lab coat. It wasn't his favorite (since the coat fit a little too snug for him, and his logo was off-center), but he still hated to destroy it. He knew, however, that to fight in a war, you have to make certain sacrifices.
After cutting up his lab coat, Medic started to wrap up Engie's burns. A fire truck arrived, and the crew started to put out the inferno.
Step 10: If fire fighters are needed, wait until the police arrive in order to give out a statement on how the fire started. If you or someone you love has been burned and been rushed to the hospital, wait for the police to contact you and get your statement.
As Medic finished the last of his wrapping, an ambulance pulled up behind the fire truck. Paramedics raced out of the ambulance, put Engie onto a stretcher, and left the rest of the BLU team behind. Pyro, however, followed the paramedics to the ambulance. When paramedics stopped them, Engie hurriedly explained that he wanted Pyro to come with him. The paramedics accepted this request and packed both of the mercenaries into the back of the ambulance.
It was hours after his operation when Engie finally woke up, faced down on a bed for specially made for burn victims. He looked around as best as he could and saw Pyro sitting in a chair, their suit laying on the back of the chair. Engie was amazed to see Pyro without their suit on. Engie felt a rush of bliss that he could be important enough that Pyro would take off their suit voluntarily.
Pyro woke up with a start. They looked at Engie staring at them. They dashed to Engie's side and forced him to lay back down. Engie complied, feeling a sense of calm flow throughout his body. Engie grabbed Pyro's hand.
"Please don't leave me," Engie whispers. Pyro had a ghost of a smile on their face.
"I won't." Pyro kissed the back of Engie's head. Engi shivered a bit, making sure he doesn't disturbed the burn wound on his back. "I promise."
Thank you for reading this pamphlet on how to properly put out a fire. I hope this helps you out in the future! Good luck!
