Easter Time! (Helmet Party)

It was a pretty hot Easter day, which made it seem insane when the RED Engineer suggested to celebrate this holiday with a cookout. It didn't seem that shocking, however, to the Engineer. He was from Texas after all; he could handle the heat better than most.

Engie finished setting up an area where all the other mercenaries can sit in the shade. He went to set up the grill when he already saw Soldier had it all set up and was now adding charcoal to it. Engie felt a smile spread on his face. The two of them had been together since Christmas, when Soldier let it slip that he liked Engie. The team didn't really care about them being together, however Scout would make a joke about them every now and again.

Soldier could feel that someone was looking at him. He turned around and saw his boyfriend staring at him. He waved at Engie and began to set the charcoal on fire. He got out a box of matches, lit one of the matches, and threw it into the charcoal. As expected, the charcoal lit up and burned nicely. Soldier was glad that he only had his muscle shirt on; otherwise, he didn't know how he would've been able to stand the heat.

Heavy came out of the RED base with all the meat they were about to cook today; Pyro was trailing behind the Russian man, carrying condiments and buns for the hot dogs and hamburgers. Engie waved them over to where they would put all the stuff down. After everything was set, Engie brought over a couple hamburger patties and began to set them on the grill.

"You're not going to put those patties on the grill like that, are you?" Soldier questioned.

"Well, how else are we gunna put them on the grill?" Engie retorted.

"Did you season them?"

"Yes?" Engie said, confused.

Soldier nodded slowly. "Alright. Just wanted to make sure."

"Alrighty, then," Engie said slowly.

Engie began to cook the hamburger patties while Soldier began to chop up some vegetables in order to make shish-kebabs later.

"Soldier, ken ay ask ya a question?"

"Sure." Soldier stopped his cutting and looked at the Texan. "What is it?"

"How did ya learn how ta cut up food ayn' cook so well?"

Soldier looked down at his knife. "Well, it was because of my father. He taught me everything that he could, and made sure that I learned as much as I could from my mother as well. My father wanted me to be the best soldier that I could ever be. He never saw anything wrong with a man learning how to cook."

Soldier sniffled. Engineer walked away from the grill and came to hug Soldier. Soldier raised his head up to the sky, willing that the tears forming in his eyes wouldn't fall. The two of them were standing like that for a couple of minutes.

After Soldier calmed down, he patted Engie's arm. Engie let go of Soldier and returned to his position in front of the grill. The two worked in silence the rest of the time that they were cooking, only talking when they had to tell the other team that they finished that certain pile of food.

As the two Americans were going to the table they set up for the rest of the RED team, Soldier stopped in his tracks. Engie looked back at Soldier and saw that he had a pair of dog-tags in his hand.

"He also taught me that it was ok for a man to cry if he feels like it."

Engie grabbed Soldier's hand lovingly. Soldier glanced up at him, then the dog-tags. "He also taught me that it's ok to be with whoever I want, as long as I love them and they love me."

Engie kissed Soldier's nose. Soldier chuckled. "He sownds like a good man ayn' a good father by the way ya came out," Engie whispered with a smile.

Soldier smiled back and pulled Engie into a passionate and heated kiss.

"That's pretty gay of you to do that!" Scout shouted at the two men.

"Ya damn right 'bout that one, Scout!" Engie exclaimed when he pulled out of the kiss.

Everyone on the team began to laugh at Engie's statement, even Soldier. Scout just rolled his eyes and smirked at the two lovebirds. Life just couldn't get any better at that moment for the 9 mercenaries that made up what was known as the RED team.
