Boruto's POV
I heard a piercing shout as a ground shaking explosion was heard and felt around my group, who was fighting someone named Kushina, who was my grandmother apparently.
"I never imagined fighting my grandson, ya know!? Hah! I never even expected a grandson! I'm proud of Naruto though!" She said. "I'm sorry, Grandmother, I need to go check something out." I said as I began to get curious about the noise.
I ran to the source of the shout and explosion. I heard......Dad.....
"No!! This can't happen!! Sai!! Get me over to the medical tent, STAT!!!" He shouted.
What's happening!?!
Then I saw her.
"AUNT HANABI!!!" I shouted as I processed everything.
Hinata's POV
I sat in my caretakers post. I heard footprints walking towards me. I looked behind me to see Naruto. "Naruto, what are you doing here?" I asked. "You are needed at the medical tent." He said with a serious tone and face. "Ok." I said, getting up and holding his hand as we walked to the tent.
"Hinata." Sakura said, stepping out of the tent as we arrived. "Hello, Sakura. What did you need?" I asked. She gave me a hug. What was going on?
"Come here." Is all she said as she lead me into the tent.
No.
This couldn't be......
Hanabi......?
No, she's not breathing, it can't be.
Father was on a nearby chair, head in his hands.
He was crying......
"No, this....this isn't real. It can't be!!" I shouted, tears forming quickly. Naruto hugged me and let me cry into his chest.
"Hanabi!! Get up!! Please! I beg you!" I shouted again.
Father walked to me and looked me in the eyes. "Hinata...." He started. I hugged him for the first time in ages.
"It's all my fault!! I couldn't be with her!!" I cried as I continued to be embraced by Father, Naruto, and Sakura.
That was it. She was gone. I was in a bit of denial but after sitting with her for hours to try and see any signs of breathing.
First Neji......Now Hanabi.......It's all my fault.....
Third POV
"Naruto, ask your squad if they will let you have the night off tonight with Hinata. She'll need the comfort." Sakura said tho the blonde. "Alright." He responded.
Naruto soon rejoined with his wife after getting approval of taking the night off. They laid in a tent together, Hinata crying against Naruto's shoulder.
"It should've been me, Naruto!!" Hinata cried.
"Hinata! Hey! It's not your fault! She could've chose to be in a different force! On the battlefield, you are supposed to expect the worst! Calm down! I don't like it when you say stuff like that." Naruto said. Hinata looked to him. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry....." She cried again, realizing that others put themselves in risk, knowing they might die. "Shhhhh.....rest. It's been a long evening." Naruto said calmly, letting Hinata cuddle up to him more as the two began dozing off.
Boruto's POV
Aunt Hanabi was dead......I couldn't exactly process it. Well, I could but....It was difficult. Heh. I guess this is where I can finally put an old saying into play....Easier said than done......I didn't exactly know how to process everything. I still had to fight, make sure Sarada and the kids were safe, and just...try and survive.
Somedays like this, when a loved one has left me(through death or just not being a friend anymore), it seems like it's easy. You just say 'oh, no big deal, I still have others' but you really feel like your whole world has crumbled. It's like when you get thrown around by emotions. Anger. Sadness. Grief. Guilt. So much guilt. You feel as if it's all your fault. It's not. They are the ones who left you. I mean, I'm still sad, angry, and yes, even guilty. But that night was different.
That night...it was filled with skies of sorrow.
Everyone grieved over the loss of my Aunt.
Even people who didn't know her well.
They broke the news to Sarada and sent me to be with her. Even though she wasn't close with her, they did a lot of training together.
The ones who took it hardest?
Himawari, Grandpa, Dad, Konohamaru-Sensei(who had been planning to propose to her soon), and most of all......Mom.
Some of the reanimations had retreated, most disappeared.
We had assumed that Orochimaru had been killed by a spy force member or was killed from something else.
A letter was sent.
We have killed Orochimaru and the other enemies including Kabuto, Mitsuki, Log(Mitsuki's elder brother who had recently been recreated), and other lair henchmen.
We had won the war.
We celebrated and soon after were in a time of rest and grieve as we prepared to rebuild the destroyed villages and areas that had been damaged.
Hey! I know, short chapter. Sorry!! I actually had to listen to a bunch of sad Naruto OSTs to get the right mindset. I may or may not have almost cried after and during the writing part of this. Anyway, I'm really sorry that this is a short chapter but this wraps up the war!! It took less than expected!! I'm really happy because I can write more to finish ending the story!!!! Yay!! So, probably 1-3 more chapters and then I'll be starting Uzukaze!!! I really hope you liked it!! Thank you all!!!
