Two months after the funeral.....
Boruto's POV
I sat next to the hospital bed, holding Sarada's hand. This month, mainly today, had been hard. Really hard. Our house is being renovated, the twins just got better from the flu, and Sarada was at the end of her pregnancy. Our new daughter had gotten sick right after she was born, about seven hours ago. "Boruto, I'm scared." Sarada said, worry painted in her eyes. "I know. It'll be ok." I said, unsure if it really would be. Sasuke held Sarada's other hand as we were all waiting for Sakura to come in.
About thirty minutes later, Sakura came back in. "Mom. What's happening?" Sarada asked. "She'll be ok. Since she was born a little earlier than normal, she's a little weak. We've got the professionals working on getting her strength back. They've been working since she was born." She replied. "Ok." Sarada sighed in relief. We both thought that since she was so weak that she had died. "By the way, have the two of you found a name for the little one?" Sasuke asked.
"Yes, I want to wait for my parents to get here first." I said. Sasuke nodded in approval, saying he'd wait.
Mom and Dad finally got here with Himawari, Inojin, and Inoari. "So, what's the word!?" Dad asked. Shisu came in last minute, carrying flowers and giving them to Sarada as he gave her a kiss on the forehead and saying he was proud of her.
"Our daughter was born at about 12:37 am. Her name...." I began, waiting for Sarada to finish.
"Her name is Hanabi Uzumaki." She smiled.
Mom gasped as tears began to fall down her cheeks. "I can't wait to meet her." Dad said.
About ten years later.....
I sat on the porch with Sarada as the twins, who were now about 12 years old, and Hanabi, who had just turned 10, were playing in the yard.
"I have to go back to work. I'm sorry." Sarada said. "It's ok. I'll stop by later tonight to make sure you're ok." I said. She gave me a kiss and said goodbye to everyone and left for work.
I was so proud of her. She had become Hokage about two years ago. Dad decided he was getting 'too old' for the job. "Daddy!! When will Mommy be back home!?" Hanabi asked. "She just left, honey. She'll be back later tonight and you'll be able to see her in the morning." I said as my daughter tackled me. She had somehow inherited Aunt Hanabi's brown hair. She had it cut like Sarada did in the academy. "Who wants lunch!?" I asked, standing up and picking Hanabi up. "Me!! Me!!" They all shouted out of sync.
After lunch I promised I'd take them out. We went for some dango and tea. "I wanna get some flowers." Itada said. "Hm? Who for?" I asked. "Well, I wanna get some for Momma and some for Aunt Hanabi." She said. I smiled. "Ok, let's do that then. I don't think we've shown this little flower Aunt Hanabi." I said as I looked at Hanabi.
We arrived at the grave. "Where is she!?" Hanabi asked. "Hm....how do I explain this....you could say that.....she's somewhere around here...she passed away when Mommy still had you in her belly. We named you after her because you got her hair and you're smile looked like hers and it still does. Every time you laugh, I get reminded of her. You're our little sunshine." I said. "Oh....so she's not here?" Hanabi asked with a frown. "She is...right here." I said, poking her chest, where her heart would be. She smiled.
"Let's go visit Mommy now!" Sakudo said. "Alright." I said.
We got to her office. I knocked on the door as she shouted for us to enter. "Mommy!!! We brought you flowers!!!" Itada said, running to her with three flowers in hand. "Aww thank you!! You're so sweet!" She smiled. I walked to Sarada and gave her a small kiss. "Eww Dad, Mom, stop!" Sakudo said as any little kid would say. We both laughed as we watched them run around her office. "How is everything going?" I asked. "It's not really as busy anymore with all of the paperwork that other people can fill out on their own now." She replied. "Yeah." I said.
A few hours had passed in the office and the kids had fallen asleep. I pulled up a chair and sat next to Sarada. We sighed and looked at each other. "Sarada?" I asked. "Yeah?" She replied.
"Happy anniversary." I said.
She smiled. "Happy anniversary, babe." She replied. We kissed each other and held hands. "I should probably get the kids home." I said. "Yeah. See you tonight." She said. "Yeah. I love you." I said. "I love you too." She said.An hour later
"Alright!! Kids! I have a special task!" I said. "What is it!?" Hanabi asked. "Today is Mommy and Daddy's anniversary! Let's make some nice dinner for Momma!" I said. "Yeah!!!" They shouted as we began cooking.
Two hours later
We finished all the cooking and cleaning as we expected Sarada to arrive soon. The kids were watching TV together as I set the table. "I'm home." Sarada said. "Happy anniversary!!" The kids shouted.
After the kids went to bed, we had our dinner together. "Did you teach them how to say anniversary?" She asked. "Shhhhh...." I replied as I laughed with her. Suddenly my eyes were covered. "Guess who?" The person asked. I smirked and turned. "Shisu!!" I shouted as I hugged him.
"Just wanted to say happy anniversary to you two. I miss you guys!" He said. I noticed he was still in his ANBU gear. "You're a busy man, head of ANBU." Sarada said. "Yeah, I have to go on another mission in an hour but I figured I would say happy anniversary. Oh! Yeah!! Shikana said happy anniversary!" Shisu said. "I keep forgetting that you two are engaged!!" I laughed. The last time I had seen Shikana was at the wedding. (If you don't remember, Shikana is Shikadai's little sister and was the flower girl for Boruto and Sarada's wedding)
I sighed.
"I guess we made it." I said to her. "What do you mean?" Sarada asked. "The path that split us has rejoined." I laughed. "You're so weird." Sarada laughed. "That's why you love me." I said. "Nah. It's just a feature I can't change but I guess since I love every part of you and your personality, I have to love your weirdness and awkwardness." Sarada said. "You're so mean, Sarada." I said as I let her cuddle up to me on the couch. "I love you though." She said. "I love you too." I smiled as I kissed her forehead and we fell asleep on the couch.I hope you all enjoyed!! Next book: Uzukaze!!
See you all then hopefully!!!
