Chapter 48

~Levi's Pov~

I wake up to the sun in my eyes, I didn't want to wake up yet but I had to go to work today. So I groan, sit up slightly and stare blankly at the window for about 2 minutes. "Fuck my life" I sigh angrily and finally get out of bed. I was walking to the bathroom when I stumbled upon a picture. I stop and stare at it, then I pick it up. 'Damn it...' I stare at with such sadness, I didn't even care if I was late for work or not. I sat back on the bed and felt a tear go down my face, "I...fucking wish you were here..." I held the picture frame tightly and cry silently. I then wipe my tears and go back to what I was doing before, I made it to the bathroom and started to brush my teeth.

~Time Skip~

Since I don't care how I look, I didn't bother to make my hair look nice or anything. I was already in my car, driving to work like normal. It didn't take long of course, so I just parked and got out. "Hey Mr. Ackerman!" I look over at my assistant, "What do you want aubreye" I hear her giggle and felt her grab my hand. "Well, the manager is angry at you for being late. He wanted me to see if you have finally arrived" I roll my eyes and then walk past aubreye, I felt her follow close behind. Once we got to the office, everyone's eyes were on us—mostly on me but still. "Where the hell were you! Why are you late Ackerman!" I swear he shouldn't be acting so tough when he knows I can beat his ass.

"Shut it horse face, it doesn't matter why I'm late. Let hurry up and get this damn meeting over with"

~Another Time Skip~

I was at my desk trying to get these damn papers done when horse face come over and starts talking to me. "You know Levi, I'm your manager—you shouldn't be calling me horse face" He seemed upset but I didn't really care. "Oh come on manager, it's okay! I mean Mr. Ackerman is always so cold and mean, your just gonna have to get used to it" I face palm myself, "Why the fuck are you guys over here talking, go to someone else's damn desk" I heard a hmph come from horse face and then he walked away while aubreye stayed at my desk just starring at me. "What" I look up at her and see her give me a confused look. "Mr. Ackerman, can I ask you something?" I groan and wave my hand to say 'yes but quickly'

"Why are you so cold to manager? Did he do something to you?" I shake my head and continued to do my work. "So then why are you so rude to manager?" I sigh but keep working on the papers I had, "Me and horse face go way back, we used to go to the same school together and that's just how I treated him. I do it because I can" Aubreye then looks over at a family picture I had on my desk and picks it up. "Oh...Mr. Ackerman? Is this your family?" She smiles at me wanting an answer, I nod. But they weren't my real family, they were actually ushio's family. Only me, Alicia and Ushio were there when the picture was taken. "You ask a lot of questions don't you" She giggles.

"Yea, I'm just curious about you and your life, wait—" I look up at her and see her look at the photo closely, "Why is this picture ripped Mr. Ackerman?" I stop what I was doing and froze in place. "I don't know what your talking about" She then shows me the picture and points to the ripped spot, "See? The picture is ripped, why is it ripped?" I then stood up, grabbed aubreye's arm roughly and force her to follow me outside. Once we made it outside I let her go, "W-what was that for Mr. Ackerman!" I don't turn to her, I was trying to keep my emotions in. "That ripped part...is my girlfriend.." I felt her smile. "Really? Is she a great person? Is she wonderful a girlfriend? Is she-"

I cut her off by telling her to hush. "Please aubreye...don't ask questions and meet me here after work, understand" I gave her a small glare but all she did was smile and nod, "Okay Mr. Ackerman" We both went back inside only for me to be scolded by horse face, "Ugh shut the hell up horse face" He gives me an angry face but I didn't care so I went back to my desk to work on those papers. I bet your wondering why I ripped that picture...unless you already know. Ushio died that day, the doctor couldn't save her. Everyone was devastated by her death—of course her dad didn't give two shits about it. He was glad that she died...which that got me to punch the living shit out of him....

~Flashback~

"Doctor! Please help her!" We were finally in a room but it was a race against time, we need to save Ushio before something happens to her. "I promise mrs. wratten we will try everything we can, please don't panic" I held ushio's hand tightly, I was praying that she wouldn't leave me. Even I knew deep in my heart that she wouldn't be able to keep her promise she made to me, "She has no pulse! Nurse!" We see a couple of nurses come help her get her pulse back, she wasn't breathing either so it was getting harder to keep her alive. "Ushio...please...fucking breath already" It was like my prayers have been answered, I felt Ushio twitch and start breathing slowly.

That also escalated into her waking up slowly, of course she was looking so good. She was looking pale..."L-Levi...m-mother...I-I'm sorry..." Alicia was crying, trying to stay calm but couldn't. "Don't fucking apologize and just keep breathing dumbass!" I was shaking, I didn't want her to talk...all I wanted was for her to live. "L-Levi...I'm not gonna-" I cut her off, "shut up!" I felt a tear go down my face. "L-Levi.." I look at her only to see a smile on her face, "I-I love you Levi-kun..." That was when everything was going through a blur.... "She isn't breathing again doctor!" They we're trying to keep her alive....but it was to late...

Beeeeeeeep

"It's to late..." I look over at Alicia, she had her face covered and was crying to the point that she fell to the ground upset. I didn't even realize that I was crying too. "Ushio Wratten...died at age 16, time of death 12:30 pm...." They put a fabric over her body but I was still holding her hand.

~Flashback End~

It was a sad day, for both me and Alicia. We couldn't change what had happened but if we were fast enough...we could have...saved her. I still remember that smile on her face that she gave me to tell me everything was gonna be alright. I cover my eyes and started crying silently to myself, I didn't know that a certain someone was listening to me cry.

~Time Skip~

"Mr. Ackerman! Finally! Your late" I roll my eyes, "Just get in the car aubreye" She gives me a smile and gets into the passenger side while I get into the driver side. I start the car and drive. "So Mr. Ackerman, where are you taking me?" I focus on the road while talking to aubreye. "Somewhere, you'll know where once you see it" I take a turn and there I can see the cemetery up ahead, aubreye was just looking out the window enjoying the ride...
