The other girl, Beth, jumps when her eyes meet mine. She is small, and really frail. Her wolf wouldn't stand a chance against mine. But thanks to my father, I can't use my wolf. I groan inwardly, still majorly pissed at my parents.

Beth's Alpha is trying to give her some confidence with this fight, but she knows it's over before we have even started. I cock my head to the side, giving her a predatory gaze.

When she finally stands up straight, I step into the white circle drawn on the dirt with chalk. She does the same, keeping her shoulders thrown back. Her Alpha steps into the circle and announces both of our names and ranks within our packs. As the Alpha declares the rules once again, a crowd starts to form. The people are interested in how I will fare in human form against a wolf.

When the Alpha is done, he steps out of the circle and gestures to us to begin. I smirk at Beth and she looks confused. I start to circle her and she shifts. A growl erupts from her throat as I come up behind her, but I ignore it.

She whips around and leaps at me. I see her coming a mile away, and I reach up and catch her jaw in my hand. Without a single thought, I toss her to the other side of the circle. She slides across the dirt, looking stunned. I feel blood starting to drip down my arm, a sure sign that her teeth skimmed my flesh. I snarl once at her, showing my displeasure.

Her Alpha begins yelling at her to get up, and she does so with a glare at me. I glare back and feel my wolf snarl within me. She wants to be let out. I cannot have that happen, so I settle for letting her voice her irritation. She snarls through my lips, egging the other girl's wolf on.

Beth's wolf growls deeply and charges at me. I smirk as I see she is favoring her right paw. As she gets closer, claws grow from the tips of my fingers and my canines elongate, pinching my lips.

A snarl rips from my lips as my wolf pushes back to the surface again. Beth's wolf seems taken aback by the loudness of the noise. Her eyes widen for a second, and I use that second to my advantage.

I leap at her wolf, slashing my claws at her face. She bares her teeth at me, attempting to nip my hands away, but her effort is futile as my claws scrape across the sensitive tip of her nose. She howls in pain as I slide to a stop a few feet away. She holds a paw to her nose, bellowing her pain. I walk next to her and push my foot into her hip. She nips at my toes once before sprawling across the dirt. She let's out one last quiet growl before she exposes her neck to me in submission.

I only realize I have tuned out everyone else when the sound of her Alpha yelling at her to get up fills my ears.

"Beth! Get your scrawny ass up off the dirt and fight back!" He yells. I turn to see her shifting back into her human skin.  Her nose has a tear across the bottom of it, and she meets my eyes. One nod of respect and she takes off into the crowds, accepting her defeat.

I turn toward the crowd and raise my arms in a gesture of victory. Howls and cheers fill the crowd around me. I step out of the circle, and a path clears straight from me to my father. I walk up to him and raise an eyebrow.

"Well done." He praises. My mother steps to my side and wraps her arms around me.

"I knew you would do good." She murmurs in my ear.

"I'm only one fight down, mum."

"I know, I know. But you did good, especially human on wolf."

I nod as she pulls away. She beams at the crowd, proud of how well I did. I roll my eyes slightly, until out of the corner of my eye I see Rylan fighting another wolf about one and a half times her size. I step away from my parents and walk over to the circle where she is.

I push up to the inner ring around the fighters. Rylan's wolf's eyes glance over and acknowledge me briefly before she snaps her attention back to her opponent.

Rylan wasn't trained like I was when we were younger. I was trained to be the strongest alpha my pack had ever seen, whereas Rylan only trained with our pack in basic training.

I turn my attention to the other wolf. The height difference won't sway to Rylan's disadvantage, but the wolf's muscles will. Even in his wolf form, you can see the muscles tensing beneath the skin.

As usual, Rylan makes the first hit on the other wolf. She charges at him and at the last second rolls, her claws raking his underbelly. The other wolf let's out a howl and charges her. Rylan's wolf darts around him for a while, tiring him out, before she attacks. Leaping on to his back, she clamps her jaw down onto his shoulder, as he tries to buck her off. Her teeth tear at the flesh on his shoulder, leaving the air heavy with the scent of blood.

Finally, the other wolf trips himself and falls to the dirt. Rylan's wolf jumps off of him and snarls at him, her teeth just inches from his throat.

The other wolf submits to her and Rylan let's out a howl of victory. I smile and when her eyes meet mine we both yip in glee. We both won our first matches!
