The Two Alphas

Chapter Nineteen

When we reach my bedroom, I push open the door and throw the core of my apple away. Then, I flip down on my bed and wait from Rylan to explain. Over my shoulder I hear her sigh and sit next to me.

I smile and roll into my back. Sitting up, I set my elbows on my knees and my chin in my hands. Rylan rolls her eyes at the gesture, but smiles.

"So?" I prod.

"So what?"

I gape at her. Really?!

"What couldn't you tell me when we were with my father?" I almost shriek this.

"Oh! That!" Rylan almost seems excited to talk now, causing me to roll my eyes.

"So, when we were fighting, I saw Kayn's wolf basically standing over your own and protecting you! And then, when he brought you to the hospital room, he refused to let any male doctors in. And he stayed most of the time that you were asleep. He just sat by your bed and snarled at anyone if they get to close. He even made me wait outside!"

I furrow my brow in concentration. Kayn didn't even know me before Cody challenged me. Why would he be acting like this.

"And when he finally left, he snarled at me as I tried to walk back inside! I had to wait until he completely left the hallway before I could come in! Everytime he came back in, he would force me out of the room." Rylan rolls her eyes.

"I don't know what his problem was! His beta just said to leave him be, but I am kinda feeling suspicious right now. He had just left the room when you woke up."

So that has to be what the smell was. With the amount of time Rylan says he spent in my room, it doesn't surprise me that it was that strong.

"Any idea why he wouldn't leave?" I ask, getting a shrug in reply.

"No idea. Hey, maybe he likes you!" Rylan squeals. I roll my eyes.

"And why on Earth would he do that?"

"Have you seen yourself?" Rylan practically ogles me herself, causing me to laugh.

"Kira, you are a goddess, you have more balls than most of the males here and you got spunk!"

"Spunk?" I ask, rolling my eyes.

"Hell yeah! What guy wouldn't want you!"

"Rylan, I have literally only known him for a few days!"

"So?"

I sigh, exasperated.

"How could he know me so well if we haven't even properly met?" Rylan seems to think on this, but ends up shrugging.

"I don't know, but he's definitely hot."

We both stare at each other for a good two seconds before we start giggling. Once we stop, I sigh and stand. I make my way to the bathroom to brush out my hair. Someone knocks on the door and Rylan gets it. I smell fruit and cookies. My mother must have sent food up.

Rylan cheers at the assortment and I peek out to see berries and cherries piled high on one side of the platter, with cookies balanced on the other.

I finish brushing my hair and I plop down next to Rylan on my bed. She starts shoveling food into her mouth, causing me to giggle. I nibble on a cherry, while I think over what Rylan just told me. What could have possibly happened to make Kayn act like that? I don't even know the guy!

" If you keep thinking that hard, your going to get lost in your mind forever." Rylan casually comments before eating more food. I roll my eyes and grab a cookie.

"Maybe I should find out why he was there the whole time." I mumble, more to myself than anyone else.

"That's a great idea! Let's do that!"

I giggle at Rylan's outburst and shake my head. I guess I'll have to see what is up with him now.

Sorry about the wait!! School got kind of hectic as I am taking a few advanced classes and it has taken a bit to get into the swing of things.

Did you like this chapter? I don't want it to seem like a filler chapter, because there is actual story behind it. Anyways...
