As the week went on, Camella got accustomed to her new life. The others tried their best to make her feel welcome, but the attention made Camella feel a bit uncomfortable, as it always had. The next day, she would return to school, which wouldn't be easy. Try as she might, things would never go back to the way they were.
Camella
I paced back and forth in my bedroom. It felt more familiar now that I had it decorated.
"How am I supposed to deal with everyone asking questions, Peter? I'm not the greatest with people," I huffed as I pulled on a piece of my hair.
Peter sat on my bed working on some algebra equations he had for homework. He looked up at me with his chocolate brown eyes and smirked. "Maybe you could get your bad conscience to yell at them."
I flung a throw pillow at him, which he dodged easily.
"I'm joking," he chuckled.
"I'm serious, Peter!" I fell down onto the bed beside him. "Help me."
He sighed. "Just don't worry about it. I'll be right there with you the whole day."
I smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Pete."
I reached up, giving him a hug, but someone cleared their throat in the hallway.
"Oh, was I interrupting something?" Natasha asked. I could see the smirk on her face.
"No." I glanced over to see Peter's face turn a shade of pink. "What's up?"
"Just checking in," she shrugged. "Ready to go back to school?"
"Ugh, no," I groaned.
"Oh, well, just remember that if you need anything, give one of us a call and we'll be right over." She smiled slightly before leaving the room.
I turned to Peter. "This is what I'm gonna be dealing with for the next week. Pity from everybody. All it does is remind me of..." I trailed off, not wanting to finish my sentence.
"Hey, it'll be fine." Peter got up and gave me a quick hug. "Gotta go. May will be wondering where I am."
"See you tomorrow," I sighed.
I still think you should ask him out.
Oh, be quiet.

As I stepped off the subway the next day, I mentally prepared myself for the day ahead of me. Walking up to the school, I don't think anybody noticed me, which I was grateful for. The moment I opened the front doors and stepped in, I heard whispers and saw glances fly across the hall.
This is gonna be a long day.
As I was pulling out my books for first period, Ned and MJ appeared at my locker.
"Well, if it isn't Miss Magic herself," MJ drawled. I panicked for a second, before remembering that I had Ned tell her everything.
"Uh, hey MJ. What's up?"
"Not much," she shrugged. She looked at me. "How are you?" she asked in gentler tone.
I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear as I shut my locker. "I'm fine, honestly. As long as I don't get smothered today."
"Alright, well, gotta get to class. See ya." She turned down the hallway as I continued on.
When I walked into the classroom, I heard a hush fall over everyone. I paused for a second before making my way to my seat. Taking a deep breath, a placed everything on my desk and got prepared, both for the class and the rest of the day ahead of me.
