Finally There

It's been a week since I told MoonLight that I was pregnant and I've started avoiding him and making sure we only talked when 100% necessary. I could tell Moon knew something was wrong but I kept refusing to talk about anything. I could tell that MoonLight had told Dawn what was wrong because she kept glaring and growling at me, and at the thought of her I growled under my breath. It was currently the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep. I stood up and rushed out of our makeshift den and straight into the woods. My eyes started tearing up as I ran further and further away. I stopped to take a breath. I was panting hard; It probably wasn't good to run a few weeks before giving birth. As I was resting I heard a low growl from behind me. I instantly knew who it was...I could smell her, I could smell her anger. I gently growled, "What do you want?" I turned around and faced her. I ducked my head low as an attempt to protect my stomach. "I want you to apologize to MoonLight or the consequences might catch up to you," at the last words she let out a snarl. "He's my mate, AND YOU'RE TAKING HIM!!" I couldn't help it, I started crying, "We were supposed to be together for all eternity, have so many pups together, but you've ruined that! I don't care anymore! Take him, and just get rid of me..." I started trembling. Her eyes grew wide as though she were surprised. "I-I....I didn't know you guys....I didn't know you were mates! I'm sorry! I-I just....I wouldn't have done any of this if I had known," she started whimpering. She looked down at my stomach and mumbled, "Y-You're having pups?" "Oh really! I didn't notice!" and then more quietly I added, "But what's the point...They won't have a father." She stepped forward and rested her head on top of mine and I wanted to pull back but I could tell she meant everything she said. "I—," she cut me off, "You don't need to apologize, I'm the one that should apologize." I heard a rustling noise from behind me and Dawn clearly heard it too cause she jerked her head up. I turned around and started growling. Moon stepped out from the bushes, "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to eavesdrop! I just saw both of you leave and... ," her voice got quieter as she calmed down, "and I was just curious because you both looked upset." I stepped towards and licked her head. "It's alright," I mumbled. "You shouldn't travel more than you have tonight. We will sleep here tonight and travel back in the morning," Dawn barked, I was about to object, "Words from your medicine wolf." After a minute I reluctantly nodded. "Moon you should go back so you can tell them where we are," right before she left a called after, "And don't mention anything we talked about tonight!" I layed down exhausted from shouting and running. "I'm sorry," I mumbled quietly before dozing off.

I blinked open my eyes and stood up. It was almost dawn. "Dawn wake up, we have to get going," I mumbled sleepy while prodding her in the side. She stood up and we groomed each other's fur, that's how we show that they forgave each other, and then  set off towards our makeshift den. I had managed to catch a small rabbit before we got back. But before we got back we smelt the sweet scent of milk, wolf milk. We stopped and set down the rabbit. "I'll look, whoever that wolf is they'd probably be happier to be found by another pregnant wolf," I panted. Dawn nodded and sat down. I started walking towards the scent it was strong, they were near. I padded up to a bush where the scent was the strongest. I could hear a high pitched sobbing sound from inside. I stuck my head in and saw a pup a little bit younger than my first litter. "Hey, what's wrong are you ok?" I managed to whimper out. I could tell that someone had died; the scent of blood and death almost made me choke. "What're you doing here?! Scram!" I high pitched yelp screamed at me. "Hey I just wanna help" "Go away!" I could hear the whine in their voice. "Is that your mommy? What happened?" "S-She...She died g-giving birth to my...m-my little sister," their voice trembled. So that explained the scent of blood; She probably didn't have anyone to help her. "Where's your dad?" "He died right after she got pregnant... ." "Come here dear..." I mumbled. Being a mother of my own pups made me feel great sympathy for the young wolf.

I had convinced the young wolf to come out and follow me, but the reaction I got out of Dawn was not what I expected. "Why did you bring back another mouth we'll have to feed?!" She practically growled at me. I tucked him behind me and growled back, "He's helpless! Both of his parents are dead, and may you not forget that we took you in whenever you were on the verge of starving!" "That's different because I knew about herbs!" "He's old enough to start learning to hunt! He could be a really good tribute to our pack ; That is if we give him a chance! Plus it's not your choice it's MoonLight's!" She grimaced under the way I mentioned my mates name. "Whatever... but when he gets mad it's not my fault." I turned towards the pup and asked, "What's your name, and would you like to ride on my back?" He was still trembling when he muttered, "M-My names Deer and I would like to ride your back... I-if you don't mind." I nodded and let him get on top of me.

We finally arrived at the resting place and told MoonLight about finding the pup. He agreed on letting him stay if he could guard the den the whole night. Before everyone split up I whispered, "MoonLight we need to talk...alone." At first he looked like he was going to object but he noticed the pleading look in my eyes and nodded. I started walking away towards a group of bushes, and then I sat down and started waiting. "What do you want?" he asked. "I-I'm sorry...I overreacted!," my eyes started watering, "I didn't mean to...I-I just wanted someone to care for these pups...but it would've been hard when you spent all your time with Dawn... ," I trailed off. "I would never leave you, I've always loved you and I always will," he licked my head and we laid down and went to sleep right there.

When I woke up Moon had already started telling the others to hunt. I walked up to him and asked what I could do. "You shouldn't be out hunting," he said unfazed. "I'm not helpless!" I yapped. He just shook his head and lead me towards the den. When I laid down I heard him whispering with SkyCloud. "I've found a spot not far from here that is the perfect place for a camp. But I'm worried if NightSky can make the whole trip there," "Of course I can make there! I've tracked pregnant before, what's the difference now?" I shouted from the den, "If it's not that far I should be fine!"

It's been a week since we found where we are going to permanently stay. I am overdue with giving birth and I'm not sure what to do, MoonLight is freaking out and Dream is starting to get fretful. MoonLight won't let me do anything because he scared I'll give birth at any given moment. At this point I'm starting to wonder if I'm just fat. Dream won't leave my side and it's starting to get annoying because everyone's so worried about me when we should just be happy we found a home. Moon is the only one that still treats me like a normal wolf. I'm on the very edge of either having a mental breakdown or yelling at everyone to just go away.

I woke up to feel a sharp pain in my stomach. I didn't feel as though I as giving birth or as though a pup was kicking me. I tried to stand up but fell back down as my legs buckled under me. It felt like I couldn't breath and the pain kept getting worse. I kept trying to call out but I was so out of breath that I couldn't speak. I lifted my head up very slowly and realized there was no one near me. I was alone in a dark unknown place. I was panting now, wondering where I was. I was about to give up when I saw the same buck from a long time ago from before I left the woods. I suddenly felt like I couldn't move, breath, speak, all I could do was see the buck. "You completed your mission, you got to where you were needed, and now you can live your life in peace. There is no more need to worry. Good Luck with everything and I hope you live a good life." He started walking away. I then woke up and everything was back to normal.
