matt was never one for talking, he usually just sat there and didn't really talk with anyone. he learned to mind his own business and focus on himself so even when he transferred to a new school, he kept the same routine. everyone always found it weird because matt wasn't mute and love interacting with people at social settings but just not talking. it always irked his anxiety.
matt pulled on his backpack, shutting his locker. he stood at metal box, reading his daily schedule off of his phone. matt was confused as to where he was supposed to go but decided against asking for help. he walked down the halls and listened to his music, sighing. he made his way down a small hallway and bumped into someone. matt landed onto the floor, face flushed.
"hey! watch whe-"
matt heard the male pause from scolding him. he felt another person's eyes on him as he stood to his feet, dusting the dust off of his jeans. matt looked at the male opposite from him, taking in his appearance.
he was attractive to say the least, he had darker skin, dreads, and an infectious smile. he seemed kind.
matt heard the male speak again, snapping out of his haze. he blushes as he gripped his backpack strap.
"you must be the new kid! i'm ian!"
ian grinned at matt, hoping for a verbal reply. he just got a nod and a handshake. sigh.
"you don't talk much, huh?" matt sighed, deciding it was time to say at least something.
"i'm matt and, uh, i talk just not a lot? i don't know if that makes sense."
ian just nodded and walked matt to his next period since first period was over, great. matt thanked ian.
"hey you should sit with my friends and i at lunch!"
matt nodded before waving and turning the door handle and walking into the classroom, excited for lunch.
