Filthy Rich Island Girl

"Sino ho sila?" Inquired a woman wearing a maid uniform.

Eri and I was standing in front of a mansion. It took us half an hour to finally locate the place where I needed to meet someone.

"Eri Aves at Zenia Sangreal ho," Eri replied.

"Ano pong sadya niyo dito?" The woman asked again.

"I'm looking for a man named-" I didn't finished what I was about to say when a man in his late 40's, I suppose, showed up.

"Who are you talking to, Mirna?" The old man asked. He walked towards us.

"Ah, eh ser... Ano po..."

Nanliit ang mata ng matandang lalake when he met my gaze.

"Are you, by any chance, Zenia Sangreal?" He asked in uncertainty.

I was flabbergasted. How did he know my name?

In nodded as an answer. He let us entered his mansion and ordered Mirna, the housekeeper, to make something for us to eat. We arrived at the mansion's sala, which was twice as big as our entire house in the island. He offered the sofa for us to comfortably sit. And we politely accepted the offer.

When the old man wasn't looking, Eri whispered in my ear. "Shucks, mas mahal pa ata itong single sofa kaysa sa bahay namin."

She giggled alone while I ignored her silliness.

"So, it's nice to finally meet you, Zenia." He smiled genuinely.

I eyed him skeptically.

"Figures." He sighed. "I'm David Siangco. Your Dad, Zeric, and I, we were more than bestfriends. He treated me as like his own brother and I did, too. Uhm, I'm about to disclose secrets so, is it ok for you if..." He looked at Eri.

"I'm a steadfast person. I don't reveal other's secrets, I promise!" She defended herself.

From my own judgement, she can be trusted so I motioned old David to continue what he was about to say.

"I know about your family's underground line of work for centuries. 18 years ago, I don't know if you already know this but, your family vanquished to the werewolves. I thought no one survived. And then 6 years ago, a woman approached me and introduced herself as Astrid's sister. She told me that six years in the future, a girl will come looking for me, querying about why should she have to meet with me."

Mirna arrived with three glasses of orange juice and a dozen of cookies. He sipped on his juice before continuing.

"Astrid's sister told me of what should I do if this time comes."

"What did she told you?" I asked, wanting my curiousness to be answered.

His hand went below the long table in between the sofas we were sitting at to reach for something. It was a brown envelope. He handed it to me.

And I eagerly accepted it.

"See for yourself," he said.

I quickly opened the brown envelope, only to see stacks of papers inside. I took out instinctively the papers and scanned through it. My forehead creased in bewilderment.

"Oh. My. Gee!" Eri wailed as her eyes grew bigger and her mouth grew wider.

"What's this?" I asked, totally baffled.

"It's obviously your Statement of Ownership and the will your aunt left you with. Astrid's sister told me that the checkbook was left in your possession, and it was named after you already. Since you're the sole Sangreal, all of your family's wealth will be given to you. The deed is also there." He explained.
