CHAPTER 20: But I Like Cheese

"Come on, we haven't had a movie night in forever!" I whined, pulling on Fiona's arm. She grinned. I knew I'd break her, it was just a matter of time.

"Ok, ok!" She giggled. "I agree, it's about time we have another montage."

"Yes!!" I exclaimed, running upstairs to change into sweatpants while Fiona made popcorn.

Three hours later, we were halfway through our second movie and the romantic plot line seemed to remind Fiona of something.

"Do you remember when we were back in Maine, and we used to make up all those stories at night?" I nodded, thinking back. "About celebrities or crushes, and the ending was always perfect, like a fairy tale."

"Those were the days," I said, giggling as I remembered. "Can you imagine doing that now?" It had been two weeks since our trip to the beach with our boys, and school was looming up close, as was Fiona's due date to go home. Then she seemed to have the same thought. I wondered how we both got there. Then I remembered we were constantly in sync. Right.

"What am I going to do, Sarah?" Fiona said suddenly. "I can't just leave Liam, I mean you saw what happened when you and Harry were apart." It was so sudden and she so instantly brought up the breakup that for the first couple seconds I was too baffled to speak.

"I don't know, honestly," I said finally. "I don't know what you're going to do." She sighed deeply, a little tear

starting to form in the corner of her eye.

"But...I can't leave him, I can't just leave him..." I held open my arms and she fell into them, her breath hitching and a tiny sob coming from her throat.

"You're gonna figure this out, I promise. You can come back and visit whenever you want."

"It's so expensive, my mom will never let me," she whimpered, her voice muffled by the blanket. I stroked her hair away from her face and smiled.

"I'll fly you out anytime," I said. "Just think of it as a gift from my dad's poetic success." She managed a weak grin, but then it hit her again.

"I can't even imagine being without him," she whispered. I bit my lip, wishing I knew what to say and make it all better.

"You still have a week, right? Make it count," I said, trying to find the silver lining. She sniffed.

"Okay," she agreed. "You're right. I won't think about it right now." I nodded encouragingly. She sat up, wiped her eyes, and played the movie. "It'll be okay." I sighed. I hoped so.

The next day, I had just woken up and was shuffling downstairs when there was a knock on the door. I rubbed my eyes in confusion and nudged Fiona where she had fallen asleep on the couch and I hadn't been able to rouse her.

"Someone's at the door," I mumbled.

"This early?" she asked, sitting up. I nodded, tried to flatten my bed head, and went to answer the door. The second I unlocked the door, it burst open and I jumped back, startled. It was Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall, and Zayn, all looking extremely awake for the time and very very excited.

"Lovely! You won't believe it!" Harry cried, picking me up and spinning me in a circle.

"I don't believe you can be this awake right now," I mumbled, stumbling as he set me down again. "Does that count?"

"This is so much more important than sleep!" Louis said, his voice cracking with force. He did an impressive hop over the back of the couch and stood, arms out like Titanic, and said, "Guess what?"
