CHAPTER 10: Someone Else's Angel

"....so he said, do you want to watch a movie, and I was like, duh? Then we sat down on the couch and he puts on Finding Nemo...it was so hard not to just laugh! And all through the movie he's kind of scooting closer and closer..."

I squealed, kicking my feet in my little excited jitter that only came out when we were talking about boys.

"Oh my goodness that's so sweet!" I giggled. Fiona nodded, taking a deep breath and continuing on with her story.

"I barely remember any of it. My head was sort of in this major daze the whole time. Like I actually think my brain just, shut down. But eventually I was practically like sitting in his lap and he looked at me with those beautiful eyes and....one thing led to another...." She sighed dreamily and I had a thought.

"You guys didn't...you know, do it, did you?" Fiona's eyes popped open and she shook her head.

"Oh, gosh no! This is sacred ground, girlfriend!" She gestured to her entire body with a hand and I

broke down in laughter. "You didn't really think we did, did you?" I thought about it, then shook my head. There was a silence, then I jumped up from my seat and said,

"Come on and put some pants on! It's about time I mortally embarrass you in front of Liam, isn't it?" Fiona rolled her eyes at me in exhaustion, then stood up and searched the room for something decent to put on.

"Oh, I like your outfit by the way," she said, gesturing to Harry's t-shirt and oversized sweatpants.

"One hundred percent Harry," I said, giggling. She nodded in approval, then suddenly let out a spazzy squeal that I'd heard a thousand times before. Fiona was either high on sugar and lack of sleep, or she was madly in love. I guessed the latter.

"He's just so amazing," she breathed, dropping the calm act within seconds. "Like, when he was kissing me, it was so intense I could almost not even stand it." I sighed, thinking of my angel out in the kitchen. I knew exactly how she felt. "And god, he's got abs!" She exclaimed with genuine impression.

"Harry said he works out a lot," I said. "They're gym buddies." Fiona laughed at the thought, then seemed to connect it with Liam's incredible body and decided that it was nothing to laugh about.

"He's my angel," Fiona murmured earnestly, staring wistfully in the direction of the kitchen. "He's my Harry."

I nodded.

"I knew there was more than one of them out there," I said. "And look at that! We both got one!" Fiona, now fully dressed and with a slightly less hectic hairdo, laughed and grabbed me by the arm.

"Let's go say hi, then." I nodded, following her eagerly back out to the kitchen.

"They live!" Niall joked as I joined him at the counter. I giggled, sticking my tongue out at him. It was amazing; I'd known these guys for less than a day, and yet, we were already almost like old friends.

"Hey, lovely," Harry said. "Just in time for my famous sweet corn fritters and bacon." Now, I had no idea what a sweet corn fritter was, but I was willing to find out if it made Harry look as happy and proud of himself as it did.

I accepted the plate, inhaling deeply and suddenly realizing how starving I was. "Thanks, angel," I said to Harry, who winked and nodded in reply. After my first mouth-watering bite of crispy bacon, I swiveled on my stool to face Fiona. "So did Liam tell you about their exciting news?" Fiona shook her head confusedly, and I practically choked on my breakfast at the sight of Liam desperately slicing his finger across his throat an an effort to shut me up. "Oh..." I said, amused. "I guess not."
