I'M JUST ANOTHER FORGOTTEN EX-GIRLFRIEND
Memories of you are crackling
To the surface,
Each one begging the same question:
How do you remember them?
Patton Road on that dark summer night,
Breath heavy and unsure of itself.
It was the first of many nights on
Tree-lined streets, the stars and moon
Our only witnesses.
Changing a name of something innocent
To something more X-rated.
Giggling like we were 5 years old
The whole damn time.
Frosting-filled cookies always gave way
To a kindness I'd never before experienced.
Once upon a time
You were good to me,
And I miss that.
