"Love's so fragile, anything could happen, and we know,"
It was a casual day for you. You went to your part time job and tried to finish your essay, but you couldn't concentrate that much. Shawn called you multiple times, you haven't replied him back.
"Y/n, do you want something to eat?" Your bestfriend Maddie asked you. You two shared an apartment together. At least, food wouldn't disappoint you, like Shawn did.
"Uhm, sure. Just bring me the Italian chicken pasta and some fruits, love you!"
"What's going on?" maddie asked you while she was correcting her outfit in your room. You couldn't lie to her and you needed to talk with someone about it.
"Shawn. Shawn is the problem. Last night we had our anniversary. And he just went out partying with his friends, flirting with another girls. We talked about it so many times, maddie," you sighed a little bit. Finally, it was out. Everyone thought you two had a beautiful shiny relationship. Sadly, the truth was completely different.
"Boo, why did you not tell me anything about your feelings? You shouldn't have went through it alone. He is here in Toronto, right? Go to his condo and talk with him. Communication is the key,"
She was right. In the end you had to tell him the truth. After you finished eating your food and your casual day routine, you went to his condo. Exactly, when you arrived he came out with Brian, Connor and all of his new friends. He looked happy like nothing happened.
"Love, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk with you," his friends were now looking at you.
"Guys, this means we need to leave them alone. Shawn, I will tell Andrew that you'll come later. Don't worry," Brian said. At this moment you were thankful for these words. You hate disturbing someone's day plan. As you entered his condo it felt so different. The pictures of you two, they weren't there anymore. The decoration you bought him weren't there anymore. It was just decoration at all, but deep down it hurt you.
"You changed a lot of things here," you awkwardly said to break the silence between him and you.
"Yeah, now it looks more like my home," This hurt you more than anything. Of course, it was his home, but he just threw your decoration away. He can't expect that you would stay calm after those words.
"Are you alright? I mean what is this Shawn?" Your voice was now shaking and louder than usual.
"What do you mean? If you mean your decoration and our pictures, they are in my box. It's not that deep,"
"Not that deep? You are annoying with your childish attitude,"
"My childish attitude? Are you kidding me? I called you multiple times. You weren't picking up my calls. And now I'm the childish one?" you never seen him like that. Angry, annoyed by your presence. It almost made you scared. This man in front of you wasn't Shawn.
"You exactly know why! It was our day! Our first anniversary!"
"Wait what? No, I would never forget this special day," he thought outloud.
"Yes, but you did,"
Now I was standing in front of his big windows. Toronto's night life would start any moment. Our relationship wasn't the same anymore. We were constantly fighting. He started to forget important days in our relationship, or flirt with another women.
"Hun, I'm so sorry. This time I really fucked up and I know that," At least he recognized his mistakes.
"Shawn, it's not only about that. I mean you put our pictures into your box, you flirt with another women who are supermodels and way better than me, you forget our important days. You are changing,"
"You know that I only have eyes for you?"
"Of course, but love's fragile. Anything could happen, and we know, but we make it everytime. Just this time I don't think we could make it," Some hours ago you weren't even thinking about a break up but now it seemed so right to do it. You loved Shawn with your whole heart, but sometimes you need to let your loved ones go.
"Don't do it. We still can make it. Hun, don't even think about it,"
"Shawn, I'm so sorry. This time it seems so hard to make it. I love you, and how I do. Believe me, it's the best for us,"
I made my way back to his entrance. I looked at him for the last time. He stood there watching me leaving. His eyes were filled with tears and you hated to see him like that. You just hoped it wasn't the last time you would see him. Deep down, you wished he would do anything to not let you go, but he also knew it was better for you two.
"Shawn, I'm going now. I will always love & support you, no matter what,"
Those were your last words and then you closed the door. You closed a door with your past, with memories which could warm up a frozen lake. It was over.
