It wasn't the first time that Shawn called you to his condo, to get an advice on his relationship, which is non existent at all.
"I just don't know what to do. She's avoiding me all the time," Shawn said, while he was burying his face into his hands. His eyes were closed, like, he tries to remember how she was at the beginning; how they were at the beginning.
"I want to be honest with you. Some days ago I saw her with a guy. Well, the last few months she was with this guy. He's studying the same subject as me, that's why I see them all the time,"
Not trying to break their relationship, but he was on tour these last months. He deserved to know what is going on.
"Wait? Are you trying to say that she's cheating on me? Are you lying?"
"Shawn, no. What? Why should I lie? You deserve to know what's going on,"
"And I should believe you? They're probably just friends,"
I was completely surprised by his words. Shawn isn't that dumb so, I wonder why he's not believing me. After all, I'm his best friend.
"Shawn, I just need to tell you something. Some days ago I saw them kissing in the library. They tried to pressure me with money. Goddamn it, I'm not lying!" I said it, my voice was louder than usual, but I could sense it that he thinks I'm lying, and I'm not.
"Look, I get you. She wants to be an actress. Right now, she has a role where she has to kiss someone. That's not cheating, it's her job,"
"Shawn, are you fucking kidding me? No, she's not the main character. You say that you hate sadness and lies, but your mind takes you back to her and you're happy again. You're blinded by her. I'm going, don't call me when you have found it out. I'm leaving, you don't believe me anymore. Do you really think I want to destroy your happiness? Oh come on, Shawn. Goodbye," so I left his condo. Of course, it made me sad. His girlfriend is cheating on him and ugh. I mean he has every right to say 'she's not like that', but I know the truth.
Weeks later. Shawn and I haven't talked since the 'fight' we had. He tried to reach me out, through calls or through Brian. I didn't response to both of them, as I returned from my classes someone waited in front of my door. It was Shawn.
"Shawn? What are you doing here?"
That's when I finally saw his face. He looked tired, mad tired. His eyes were puffy red and his hair just a mess.
"Shawn, oh my God. Come in. What's going on?"
Now he was in my little apartment which I rented some weeks ago. It's not big but enough for me.
"Haven't you seen the video? You were right and I didn't believe you," he said, his eyes focused on the frame of you two.
"I saw it and you don't have to be ashamed of it," I tried to calm him down. Of course, the video was a whole mess. She got filmed while she made out with someone. And now Shawn had to explain that they weren't in a relationship for months, to avoid any problems.
"You were always there for me. I'm doing good, believe me, I just need to tell you something," he nervously said.
"I -,"
"Shawn, wait, while you were gone. I found someone. His name is Ryan and he will be here soon. I can't wait, until you will finally meet him. So, what's your problem?"
"Never mind, it was something stupid,"
You exactly knew what he was going to say, but it was too late.
You loved him and you waited for him, just to get hurt at the end.
You ran out of love.
