Poe, Finn, Chewbacca and Rey had landed on Jakku, near Nimma outpost. They could see many ships around it that would be useful for the Resistance.

But as they walked towards the outpost, Rey stopped suddenly.

"What is it Rey?" Finn asked as he noticed that she had fallen behind.

"I can't go there, I'll be recognized," she said. "They'll take me and keep me as their slave. And I'll be punished for running away and stealing the Millennium Falcon."

"We wouldn't let that happen," said Finn.

Poe nodded.

Rey shook her head. She could defend herself and she knew that her friends would defend her too. But she didn't know how many might come for her. And she knew that if she was seen, she could jeopardize the mission. "I'm a danger to the mission," she said. "I shouldn't have come."

"But you're the only one who knows where the ships are." Finn said.

She shook her head. "You, Poe and Chewy can manage without me," she said. Then she gestured towards the outpost "Go on without me, I think I know where some ships are."

"Okay," said Finn. "But take this." He gave her a communication device.

She smiled, and took it from him. "Thank you," she said. Then she turned to leave.

She walked through the sand, until she came to the AT-AT she had called her home for so long. But it didn't bring the kind of fond memories a home normally did. No. It brought only pain and memories of the lonely years she had spent on Jakku.

She climbed inside, careful to avoid the traps she had set to keep other scavengers from coming in. She walked over to the wall where she had placed marks, counting each day she had spent waiting for her parents to come back for her.

She reached up to touch the wall. She could see two shadows on the shiny surface coming towards her. Was it her parents? She wondered. Would she actually get to see them this time? But as they came near, they merged into one and she saw only herself. Just like what she had seen in the mirror in the cave.

She closed her eyes and shook the memory away.

She could hear Ben's words echoing in her mind. "You're not alone." But she felt alone.

It was getting late, so she decided to spend the night here and set out the next morning. It would be a long walk to where she was going.
