"Wrong way Demetrius."

"Oh what do you know ?"

"I know that there's a roadblock up ahead."

"Well that would cause an issue."

##

"I'm tired and he's getting heavier each second."

"You are a humanoid, you should not get tired so easily."

"Easily ? We've been walking for a hours."

"Exercise is good for the soul."

##

"Dammit Justin speed up !"

"This is ridiculous Dem-"

"No no. Do not make excuses. I want to get this done so I can drop him, I am almost tempted to drop him now."

##

"We can leave him here no harm done; he will be fine."

"I'm pretty sure we can't just leave him, you owe him a lot."

"For what exactly ?"

"He saved your life many times despite what you may think."

"Whatever you say."

My eyes crept open and I found myself staring at the sky, more specifically the stars. The wind skipped calmly over my face cooling my steamy skin. I was lying on the ground, debris scattered by my sides. I didn't seem to mind that I was in the middle of the street and could be killed potentially any moment. But I felt somewhat peaceful here.

What happened ?

I whipped my head around to find someone...anyone. But I was by myself and worried. I couldn't imagine what would do such a thing but they had to still be somewhere in the area and then what would I do ?

I was a humanoid after all. And free.

I picked myself off the asphalt and brushed my jumpsuit off. I seemed to be unharmed and perfectly fine, as for Heavensly...it was a different story. The streets were cluttered with trash as well as other things. The houses were rundown and gloomy. No lights could be seen for miles, it looked like no one occupied them at all. Where did everyone go ? Hopefully they all got away safely.

I wasn't exactly sure but I remembered Justin and Demetrius somewhere....did they leave me also ? I was all alone again. Then my family crossed my mind, Demetrius's dead parents. I had to get to my house to see if I had any family left. I trudged down the sidewalk still feeling some of the numbness trapped in my bones. My mind swirled with so many thoughts. What if I they found out ? Would they still love the monster I'd become ?

....Demetrius..

No he was gone long gone, out of my life forever like I wanted so very much. But why wasn't I rejoicing ? It felt like I'd been stabbed in my chest, I was betrayed by two people I barely knew.

Heavensly was always a quiet little town but this time it was different, the way everything was silent. The wind wasn't even blowing. It was frightening the way the town was in ruins. A town I spent most of my life growing up in and now it was nothing.

I could see my house up ahead; the shingles were sliding off the roof, the front door covered in blood and dirt. I squeezed my eyes shut praying that they were inside and that they were alive.

"There he is. Alexander !"

I glanced over my shoulder to see Justin- beside him was Demetrius grimacing as usual. For the first time my stomach fluttered, the longer I stared at him the stranger I felt.
