Those who wished for death never seemed to get their wish granted, but those who wanted to hold on longer were the ones to leave first.
Lucky bastards.
"Where have you been ?"
The frustrated voice pulled me from my thoughts. I was even more confused than I usually was. I was standing in the entrance of a kitchen. The smell of baked chicken wafted in the air and I inhaled deeply. I looked down at my clothes to find myself wearing a crisp white shirt, gray slacks, and shiny black shoes. I even had a briefcase in my hand.
"Are you going to answer me Alexander ?" The deep voice asked.
A sound of a crying baby made me curious. I sat the briefcase down and moved forward into the kitchen.
Once I was inside my eyes immediately went to the stove where a man stood hovering over it. His black hair was tied up in a messy bun. His back muscles stretched and contacted through his fitted light blue t-shirt with every movement.
"I'm sorry." I said plainly. I squinted trying to see the identity of the man but didn't have to try so hard because I soon recognized him.
Demetrius turned around welding a menacing looking wooden spoon. His brow was furrowed as he watched me intently with his orange eyes. He tapped his metal fingers on the stove emphasizing his impatience. I nearly chuckled at the sight of a domesticated Demetrius. But he didn't look feminine at all, he was... attractive.
The sound of the baby filled my ears and my attention snapped over toward the hazel eyed child. She quieted down as I began to walk toward her. Her tiny hand reached out wrapping around my index finger then she smiled, with her gums.
"She has been waiting for her father all day," he said softly. "So have I."
His words made me shiver and I recoiled from the child. This was all so strange.
Demetrius dropped the wooden spoon on the counter and wiped his hands on his jeans. "Howard please come get Margaret !"
Howard and Margaret. I bit my lip restraining myself from crying out. The children were named after them.
A frail boy entered the kitchen going straight for the baby. His brown hair and brown eyes shocked me, he reminded me of myself. The way his clothes hung off his body as if he were sick but his cheeks were plump and rosy.
"Hi dad,", he greeted briefly.
I stepped back taking a look around the nicely decorated kitchen. Was this my life ? I had kids. I looked at the silver ring on my finger, and a husband. The things I've always wanted. Demetrius wrapped his hands around my waist pulling me close to his rigid body. The heat from our bodies combined making it almost unbearable.
Then he spun me around placing his lips on mine. I slowly brought my hands up to his neck and hung onto him but it didn't last long. He pushed me up against the counter, his hands moved feverishly against my body. They tugged at the buttons on my shirt, popping a few off them off, and I groaned.
He pulled away and placed his mouth near my ear and I closed my eyes. "I need you."
The few words I've never heard.
I felt a tear slip from my eyes and I was staring at a black ceiling.
"I told you, you hit him too hard," Justin grumbled.
There was a soft growl. "It was either that or he did not wake up at all."
I sat up abruptly wiping my damp eyes looking around. I was in a restaurant, one that wasn't familiar and I had been to every establishment in Heavensly.
